🌋 Exciting News from Klipheuwel Media! 🌋
We are thrilled to share our recent collaboration with the renowned French production company, French Connection Films, on a fascinating documentary about the Toba volcanic eruption and its significant impact on ancient humans. Filmed between 15-21 July, this project delves into one of the most dramatic events in human history.
70,000 years ago, several mega eruptions of the Toba volcano may have pushed humanity to the brink of extinction. These cataclysmic events obscured the sun for years, spread toxic ashes over vast areas, and triggered a devastating ice age. While this natural disaster killed many plants, animals, and humans, it may have also spurred the survivors to develop new tools and social structures that were crucial for the survival and eventual dominance of our species. Could we all be descendants of the few who survived Toba?
The documentary follows a team of international scientists, including volcanologists, archeologists, anthropologists, and geneticists, as they rewrite the history of this super volcano. Their thrilling quest for knowledge takes them to Indonesia, India, South Africa, the US, and Europe, visiting excavation sites, museums, and labs. With exciting re-enactments using actors and state-of-the-art CGI, viewers will witness the extreme challenges our ancestors faced and overcame.
Klipheuwel Media played a vital role in this production by assisting with permit acquisition, serving as a fixer, and handling the sound recording. We are incredibly proud to have contributed to this groundbreaking project and look forward to sharing more insights as the documentary unfolds.
