Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah was a mother whose strength shaped the life of her son, Trevor Noah.

A mother. A survivor. A woman who refused to let fear define her life.

She was born in South Africa during the years of apartheid, a time when laws strictly separated people by race. As a Black woman raising a mixed-race child, her life required constant courage.

Her son, Trevor Noah, was born in 1984, when relationships between Black and white people were illegal under apartheid laws. Despite the risks, she raised him with strong beliefs about faith, education, and independence.

Years later, Patricia married a man named Abel Shingange. The marriage became troubled, and she later left the relationship.

In 2009, outside her home in Johannesburg, her former husband confronted her.

A shot was fired.

The bullet struck her in the head.

She survived.

Doctors later said the bullet missed vital areas, allowing her to live. Her survival shocked many who heard the story.

Trevor Noah later shared her story in his memoir Born a Crime, describing her as a woman whose faith never wavered, even in the face of violence.

She continued living.

She continued believing.

And her strength became a powerful example of survival and resilience.

Singer D4vd has been arrested and charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose dismembered body was found in the back of his Tesla in September.

David Burke, 21, was arrested at a home in the Hollywood Hills. "Detectives from Los Angeles Police Department have arrested David Burke for the murder of Celeste Rivas.

Burke is being held without bail," an LAPD release said. Rivas' dismembered remains were discovered in the front trunk of a Tesla belonging to D4vd on September 8 after employees in a tow yard could smell a foul odor coming from the vehicle.

Rivas had been reported missing by her family in April 2024. Shortly after the body was discovered, D4vd canceled his remaining tour dates and went silent. Photos surfaced of the two together before her disappearance.
