UPDATE!
NEW DATES. NEW HOST. SAME FIRE.

We’re leveling up!

Our Producing Masterclass has moved to 17–18 October, and we’re thrilled to announce that it will now be hosted by the dynamic Artsake Productions, led by none other than Vuyani Bila — a young, independent powerhouse whose films have hit cinemas across Mzansi.

This means a fresh, current, and relevant perspective on producing in South Africa — the kind of insight you don’t get in textbooks.

Expect bold stories, real strategies, and the inside scoop from someone making it happen.

And, it will be open to anyone wanting to attend.

- It’s virtual. It’s continental.
- Open to storytellers from across Africa!
- R150 gets you access to both days.

Plus: Expect other exciting guest speakers to pop in and drop gems!

We’ve made these changes because we’re always working to grow, evolve, and offer you more value.

If you’re serious about producing, this is the room you want to be in.

The Made inLimpopo Film Hub was honored to be part of the Uhuru Film Festival, held in Mokopane from the 4th to the 6th of July 2025. Our Director, Thabo C. Tlomatsana proudly participated in a thought-provoking panel discussion, joined by our Head of Communications, Lethabo Ramokgopa, along with several of our alumni and mentees. It was a powerful gathering of storytellers, creatives, and film lovers—an inspiring space where local talent and bold new voices took center stage.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations and well wishes to the festival directors and organising team for curating such a well-executed and visionary event. We look forward to seeing the Uhuru Film Festival grow from strength to strength, continuing to raise the Limpopo flag high.

Celebrating Our Trailblazing Alumni! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce the first independent collaborative production by our talented Made inLimpopo Filmmakers Project (MLFP) alumni!

“Ko Renkeng” – a powerful short art film written by MLFP alumna Karamel Bobape and directed by MLFP alumna Aura Kekana – is a moving testament to the talent, resilience, and vision nurtured right here at the Made inLimpopo Film Hub.

The story follows a college student who gets robbed on his way to the taxi rank. With no money for transport, he must rely on his wits and dancing skills to raise the fare — discovering the power of community and creativity along the way.

This team represents the future of filmmaking in Limpopo — well developed, professional, and unapologetically local.

This is what the vision of the Made inLimpopo Film Hub is all about:

Empowering young storytellers to defy the odds, overcome predestined obstacles, and find a way to tell their stories —
to cement their voices, blossoming through the concrete floor...

Taking their futures into their own hands!

We salute our alumni for leading the way. This is only the beginning.

The Made inLimpopo Film Hub remains dedicated to developing exceptional workmanship, driven by excellence in the Limpopo film sector.

A story born in Limpopo has captured the world’s stage.

The Made inLimpopo Film Hub proudly congratulates Lubunyu the Film for winning the Best African Film award at the 78th Annual Cannes Film Festival — a triumph that places Limpopo firmly on the global cinematic map and showcases the rich, authentic storytelling power that resides within our province.

Lubunyu — a compelling narrative set in a village under terror — won the Best African Film award at Cannes, aligning perfectly with the 2025 festival theme of gender-based violence and femicide. Its cultural authenticity and thought-provoking exploration of these pressing social issues distinguished it from the competition and resonated deeply with global audiences.

The film’s powerful portrayal of community struggles and resilience amid violence is a timely reminder of the untapped talent within Limpopo. It is a shining example of how film can create meaningful change and provide a voice to underrepresented communities.

“We are immensely proud of the Lubunyu team for reminding South Africa that there is a sleeping giant of talent in Limpopo — and he is rising. No matter how long it takes, he will rise," said Thabo Tlomatsana, Director of the Made inLimpopo Film Hub.
"Their achievement at Cannes proves that stories from Limpopo have the power to inspire, to heal, and to connect audiences across the world.”

In light of this monumental milestone, the Made inLimpopo Film Hub calls on the Honourable Premier of Limpopo, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, and the Honourable MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr. Jerry Maseko, to invest in the formalisation and growth of a provincial film sector.

The film industry holds significant economic and tourism value for Limpopo. It must be recognised as a strategic sector — capable of creating jobs, building skills, attracting investment, promoting local tourism, and strengthening the province’s national and global footprint.

We believe Lubunyu is a well-timed reminder of the province’s immense potential — a call to action for all stakeholders to recognise, invest in, and elevate the creative economy of Limpopo.

Congratulations Lubunyu!!! Limpopo is proud!!
