Shock as twin boyfriend murders girlfriend and her eight-month-old baby boy at Dan Village.

DAN: A 23-year-old woman and her eight-month-old baby boy were found dead and in a state of decomposition at Dan Village outside Tzaneen in Limpopo on Thursday afternoon (26/09/2024).
According to a security guard known to Rio-Jab Media as Given Mathonsi and who is the spokesperson for Leraram Security, the victims might have been killed over two weeks before.
Mathonsi told an SABC television news that he was one of the first people to arrive at the horrible scene.
"I was alerted by my General, Rama Makhubele, to rush to the scene," said Mathonsi.
He said he found people using buckets of water in an attempt to extinguish the fire that had engulfed an RDP house.
"Members from the Ritavi police station were already at the scene," said Mathonsi.
Two bodies of a woman and her baby boy were found inside the burnt out RDP house.
It became clear that the woman's boyfriend could have been responsible for the killing of the pair and burning of the house.
The said boyfriend aged 27 and who has a twin brother had disappeared from the scene at the time.
According to Mathonsi, the bodies might have been in the house for about two weeks because of the deep foul smell that came out of the house.
Mathonsi and his Boss, Rama Makhubele, caught wind of the suspect's whereabouts.
The two rushed to look for the suspect and found him hiding in the neighborhood.
They brought him to the scene with the intention to hand him over to the police.
"The community wanted to take the law into their own hands and kill the suspect but together with the police, we managed to save his life," explained Mathonsi.
He said some police officers whisked the suspect to Ritavi police station where he was detained pending his fisrt court appearance on Monday September 30, 2024.
Limpopo SAPS Spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said the suspect would face charges of murder and domestic violence.
The bodies were collected by pathologists who took them to a government mortuary at the Letaba hospital.
A postmortem is expected to be conducted soon.
Meanwhile Rio-Jab Media has established that the suspect allegedly killed the victims after discovering that he was not the biological father of the baby.
Further investigations by Rio-Jab Media found that both the girlfriend and the suspect were into drugs.
"They both smoked dagga and used other drugs. The woman leaves behind an older child who was taken away by this woman's mom because of the drug problem," said a neighbor.
"She was however allowed to stay with the younger child for whatever reason;" added the neighbor.
Another neighbor said the community of Dan Village and neighboring settlements were very shocked about the incident.
"There were worms coming out of the house and when the suspect's mother questioned this and the foul smell, he slapped her across the face," said the second neighbor.
"That was when he set the house on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence, he apparently thought the bodies would burn to ashes," added the neighbor.
The Acting Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Samuel Manala has strongly condemned the incident.
"The community members are urged to report domestic violence challenges to the police and local authorities as well as Social workers and Pastors to avoid this type of senseless incidents," adviced Major General Samuel Manala.
The deceased were identified as Hope Hanipe Nkuna (23) and Muhluri Life Nkuna. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

HAZYVIEW: The power of the Media has indeed turned tables around at the Hazyview Home Affairs offices, thanks to Rio-Jab Media.
We have just received reports that the officials at this offices are working very hard today unlike what they have been doing previously.
People who were turned back yesterday have just reported great progress today.
"The security guard who usually comes at 8am was already here around 5am and controlling queues," said one of yesterday's victims.
"We want to thank Rio-Jab Media for forcing these people to do their work and l have already been assisted," said a female client.
She said the officials vowed to assist about 250 today.
There were chaos yesterday as people eventually forced their way inside the offices following alleged ignorance by officials.
Police were called in and they allegedly used pepper spray on the people yesterday.
Rio-Jab Media is still awaiting the police's response in this regard.
Rio-Jab Media is impressed with the reported progress and wants to advice other goverment officials neglecting people that we shall come after them.
We may soon be going under cover during further investigations in various offices in Mpumalanga.
This will be aimed at obtaining first hand information concerning neglegence by officials. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

MKHUHLU: According to the police's preliminary report that was seen by Rio-Jab Media this morning, the man who was shot dead at Mkhuhlu last night was identified as Solly Sithole (40).
The report did not mention anything about the alleged hijacking of a bakkie as Rio-Jab Media reported around 3am this morning.
The report says three armed tsotsis were allegedly engaged in a robbery spree near the Cross Roads shortly after 20h20 last night.
The tsotsis were all armed and they first attacked the owner of Sea Food tavern along with his customers.
"The suspects robbed cash amount of plus or minus R4500 and an A21S Samsung cellphone from the owner," reads the police report, a copy of which Rio-Jab Media is in possession of.
The suspects then went out of the tavern but a few minutes later there were gunshots sound at Crossroads Chakaridlayi.
That was where Sithole was shot in the chest.
The shooting motive is still unknown but police investigations are ongoing.
The police found Sithole's body at the Matikwane hospital where a doctor is said to have confirmed his death. Ends. Rio-Jab Media

MKHUHLU: A motorist was gunned down during an alleged hijacking in Mkhuhlu, Mpumalanga last night.
Rio-Jab Media understands that the murdered man was driving a 4 x 4 bakkie believed to be a Toyota Hi-Lux when he was accosted by unknown gunmen.
The shooting allegedly happened next to Mkhuhlu Cross Roads shortly after 22h00.
Unconfirmed reports suggested that the man refused to hand over the vehicle keys to the tsotsis and was then shot dead.
The reports further suggest that the hijackers managed to flee in the vehicle towards an unidentified direction.
Rio-Jab Media has been able to identify the victim but chose not to mention his name since we are still awaiting an official police comment in this regard.
Some people mentioned that they overheard gunshots while some said they were under the impression that the sound was from crickets.
Mkhuhlu has seen more than 20 gun related deaths in the past two years and has earned itself the title of being "Mkhuhlu the Land of blood".
Those who were shot dead in Mkhuhlu in the same period include two brothers of the assasinated Chief Clyde Mnisi and his wife.
Others include a politician, a teacher, a shopping complex manager and patrons.
We have sent a Media Inquiry to Colonel Donald Mdluli, the Mpumalanga Provincial Police Spokesperson concerning the latest incident and hopefully he will respond during working hours today. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

HAZYVIEW: There was nearly a stampede as people tried to save themselves police pepper spray at the Hazyview Home Affairs offices yesterday (26/09/2024).
The police were called in by the Home Affairs officials as the frustrated people forced their way inside the offices to get assistance in various services.
People who spoke to Rio-Jab Media on condition of anonymity accused the officials of dragging their feet and being biased.
"I want to be anonymous I'm at Hazyview home affairs since morning for collection of my smart lD but since I did not get help," said one of the frustrated clients yesterday just before 14h00.
She said she hailed from Justicia and had arrived there at 4am.
Other people accused the officials of choosing certain people over others for unknown reasons.
"I received a message that I must go and collect my ID card, when I get there they asked all of us if we had applied for collection. When we said no, they told us that we were supposed to do that" another client said.
"They only called five people on our row for collection since until when people forced their way inside. It seems those who were called were known to the officials," added the client.
People tried to force their way into the offices with an apparent attempt to force the officials to assist them.
These included senior citizens.
That was when the officials called the local police who allegedly used pepper spray on the people in attempt to force them out of the offices.
Some people allegedly caughed none stop while others complained of pain in their eyes because of the police's papper spray.
The Home Affairs offices were eventually closed dowm around 14h00.
Rio-Jab Media sent an inquiry to Mpumalanga Provincial Police Spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdluli yesterday.
We asked him if the police were allowed to use pepper spray on people for demanding services.
Mdluli confirmed having received our Media Inquiry and said he had forwarded it to Hazyview police station for assistance and would respond later.
Mdluli had however not yet responded at the time of this publication.
Rio-Jab Media will publish his response if it eventually arrived at a later stage.
Attempts to obtain comment from the department of Home Affairs proved fruitless. Ends. Rio-Jab Media

Mpumalanga health department finally responds to Rio-Jab Media on Matikwane hospital crisis, downplays asbestos danger.

By Riot Hlatshwayo
0712982807

MKHUHLU: It took nearly 10 days for the department of health in Mpumalanga to respond to Rio-Jab Media's crucial inquiry on the Matikwane hospital crisis.
Rio-Jab Media wrote a scathing letter to Chris Nobela, one of the departmental spokespersons and told him where to get off today (26/09/2024).
This was after his ignorance to respond to our Media Inquiry that was sent to him on September 17, 2024.
In our letter today, we asked Nobela as to why he had ignored our inquiry on such a burning issue since September 17, 2024.
We warned him that he could as well ignore our today's inquiry if he so wished but luckily, he has responded this time around.
Save to say that the written response that was signed by the department's Head of Communications, Dumisane Malamule, is dated tomorrow (September 27/2024) therefore raising more questions about the so called Professionalism in government.
It also leaves a lot to be desired as to whether our latest damning letter mesmerised Nobela or something along those lines.
That as it may, some staffers, including doctors, nurses and shopstuarts were suspended from work at the Matikwane hospital in Mkhuhlu today.
The suspensions follow what the department called an unprotected strike where workers downed tools because of fear of asbestos dust.
Matikwane hospital is undergoing renovations and the asbestos tiles are being removed by workers wearing heavily protective equipment.
Hospital employees and patients are left at risk as they do not even wear masks.
For nearly 10 days the hospital has been brought to a standstill as workers downed tools.
"We demand that this hospital be shut down and patients be transferred to neighboring hospitals. As workers we may be stationed in various clinics for the duration of the renovations," said an employee who opted to remain anonymous.
He mentioned that the lives of employees and patients were at risk of contacting asbestosis and lung cancer after inhailing dust from asbestos.
The department however decided to downplay these allegations insisting that the asbestos tiles were made wet before being removed by what it called Asbestos Specialists.
Wether it is true that the asbestos tiles are dumpened before being removed thats another thing, Rio-Jab Media can however reveal that dust is there and we are including a picture in our story to prove the point.
It is worth to note that the department's response that Nobela sent to Rio-Jab Media today, albeit dated tomorrow, is more of a defence mechanism than a solution.
We are including a screenshot of the department's written response in our picture section below.
Many patients seeking medical treatment were left unattended since the protest started over a week ago.
"We brought our very sick mom to the hospital and were told to transport her to Mapulaneng hospital in Bushbuckridge because no one would attend to her here at Matikwane hospital," a man, whose identity is known to Rio-Jab Media, said on Monday (September 23, 2024).
Meanwhile, the department has confirmed that certain employees were suspended as from today (see letter below). Ends. Rio-Jab Media

CAPTIONS: Mpumalanga department of health responded to Rio-Jab Media in a letter dated tomorrow (27/08/2024) instead of today (26/09/2024).
The dust caused by the removal of asbestos is clear but the department says the asbestos tiles are made wet before being removed. It blogs the mind as to why the asbestos removers are themselves wearing protective equipment while the department sees no danger in the asbestos although danger plates say the opposite. Patients were stranded in the Matikwane hospital for over a week.

Newly born baby boy abandoned inside a chain store in Tzaneen.

By Riot Hlatshwayo

TZANEEN: Some women will tell you that the pain of giving birth is extremely unbearable so much that a woman can even vow not to ever have s*x again in her life.
However, some women go through hell after giving birth and end up dumping their babies, sometimes in pit toilets.
That as it may, another woman has dumped her newly born baby boy inside a chain store in Tzaneen Town in Limpopo.
The Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, told Rio-Jab Media that a fellow woman picked up the baby from the store and took him to the local police station on Friday last week (20/09/2024) at 18h20.
"The complainant, a woman, came to the client service centre at CSC holding a newborn baby boy alleging she found the newly born baby inside one of the chain stores in Tzaneen Mall," explained Ledwaba.
He said the baby was taken to hospital for medical attention.
"The suspect (mother) is known but not yet arrested," said Ledwaba.
He said police investigations were ongoing.
The current condition of the baby is not known to Rio-Jab Media and neither are the reasons for the mother's dumping of her baby. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

"Iam with tzaneen food market, they are the ones who are arranging the food market. steffis is providing the venue. This will be a very special occasion indeed," said the staffer who opted to remain anonymous.
She said there would be food and kids market that would accommodate both parents and kids. "There will be different games which will be played by kids in some sort of competitions," said the staffer.
"Good music will be name of the game diring the event," she added.

More than 300 learners whose 2022 Matric Results were withheld are suing for R10-million each.

By Riot Hlatshwayo
0712982807

MBOMBELA: The workerholic Advocate DJ Sibuyi (Advocate of the Masses) is suing the Department of Education at least R10-million for each of the more than 300 learners whose 2022 Matric Results were withheld.
Advocate Sibuyi, the head of Mthunzi Law Chambers next to his upmarket Mthunzi Lodge in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, is representing the learners in the Mbombela High Court.
He has however reluctantly confirmed the availability of the lawsuit but refused to dwell into merits.
"Look Rio-Jab, l can only confirm that yes, we are in the process of suing the department for each of the children we are representing," Adv. Sibuyi responded to an inquiry from Rio-Jab Media.
"We are however unable to comment further on this matter based on the fact that we are not ready to fight our legal battles through the Media but through the courts of law," added Sibuyi.
That as it may, Rio-Jab Media has independently been able to set its eyes on the confidential letters of demand for the multimillion rand lawsuit.
The strong letter of demand dated September 11, 2024 is directed to the Minister of Education, Director General of Education, Mpumalanga Education MEC, Mpumalanga Education Head of Department and Umalusi.
The letter diligently shows timeframes of how and when the Education department started to accuse the learners of cheating during the 2022 end of the year examination.
As the learners were expecting to receive their results in January 2023, they got disappointed.
Their parents were called to some offices in Mbombela, Mpumalanga and told that their children had apparently cheated during the examination.
The parents were told that it was along this reason therefore that the learners would not obtain their full results pending investigations.
Rio-Jab Media can reveal that this was done verbally only to be followed by documentation nearly a month later.
It seems like this is exactly where the department stabbed itself in the neck because it failed to adhere to its own standing procedures in dealing with a situation of this calibre.
The parents approached Advocate Sibuyi for him to fight legally for their children's results.
Sibuyi took the matter to the Mbombela High Court on urgent basis but the "urgency" was struck off the court roll with costs.
The matter was then put in the normal court roll.
It took months for the matter to be eventually heard in the Mbombela High Court.
Rio-Jab Media followed this matter from the beginning until where it currently is.
It was a long and winding legal battle that eventually saw the court joining Sibuyi's clients to those of another lawyer fighting for another group of learners for the same purpose.
That was Attorney Khambako who is representing just over 60 of the learners.
Although Sibuyi is himself representing over 300 of the learners, Rio-Jab Media can reveal that all the affected learners are more than 900.
According to the letter of demand, Sibuyi has accused the Education department of causing his clients a very serious reputational damage.
He pointed out that some even decided to commit su***de.
Sibuyi dug deep in his pocket and took some of the affected learners to Psychiatric evaluation and counselling.
Rio-Jab Media has also seen experts Psychological reports that confirmed that indeed the learners went through traumatic situations.
Just last month, the Mbombela High Court ruled in favour of the learners and ordered the department to release the 2022 matric results.
Justice Roelofse based his judgement mosty on the fact that the Education department failed to be consistent in the application of the rule or standard relating to its own set of procedures.
The judgement did not sit well with the department and it has decided to launch an appeal.
Today was the day in which the court was supposed to hear the Department's application for leave to appeal.
That was however postponed to October 03, 2024 as the Department's legal representatives had pointed out that they were not ready for today.
Advocate Sibuyi asked the Judge for permission to address the court.
He pointed out that the department had five lawyers and that they were coming up with delaying tactics.
He pointed out that the situation as it stood was dire and the institutions of high learning were closing or had closed already.
This meant another lost year for the learners and the judge agreed that he had considered that.
Attorney Khambako asked for costs for the postponement and the judge reserved that.
Attempts to obtain comment from the Education department proved fruitless. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

CAPTION: Advocate DJ Sibuyi was not happy about the postponement and asked to address the court.

Matikwane hospital staffers downed tools for fear of asbestos dust, patients are seriously affected right now.

MKHUHLU: Staffers at the Matikwane hospital in Mkhuhlu, Mpumalanga, have downed tools and patients are currently not receiving any services.
The staffers are angry that they are exposed to dust that is believed to be from the "asbestos" being removed from the hospital roofs as it is being renovated.
Rio-Jab Media could not however independently establish if indeed the hospital was roofed with asbestos.
More than three employees who spoke on condition of anonymity have insisted that the dust was from asbestos that was being removed during renovations of the hospital.
The staffers said they were concerned that the hospital management including the CEO who was identified to Rio-Jab Media as Matilda Makukule were not at the hospital.
"The management is fully aware about the consequences that come with being exposed to asbestos. Everyone from management is not here, even the CEO is on leave," said one of the employees.
"The management is clearly running away from the same asbestos that we are all afraid of," he added.
Rio-Jab Media also understands that even patients are exposed to the dust.
The downing of tools have resulted in patients, including those that arrived yesterday, not receiving any help.
The Out Patient Department (OPD), reception, dispensary and wards are disfunctional at the moment.
Suggestions have come forth to say the hospital should close down for the duration of the renovations.
"The department must relocate us to other nearby clinics and relocate the patients to other hospitals while the renovations are ongoing," said another employee.
Meanwhile a quick search for the consequences of being exposed to asbestos has revealed shocking results.
"If you breathe asbestos fibers, you may increase the risk of several serious diseases, including asbestosis, mesothelioma and lung cancer," Research shows.
"Asbestos exposure may increase your risk for cancers of the digestive system, including colon cancer," adds the Research.
Rio-Jab Media has drafted a Media Inquiry and sent it to the Mpumalanga Provincial health department Spokesperson, Chris Nobela.
We asked Nobela quite a few difficult questions about three hours ago but we had not received his response at the time of this publication.
Should the department come onboard at a later stage its comment will be publushed henceforth. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

CAPTIONS: The affected patients at the Matikwane hospital, it is dusty everywhere and renovators are the only ones wearing protective equipment as they work at the hospital.
