JMPD OFFICERS ARRESTED A MOTHER AND SON FOR POSSESSION OF A HIJACKED VEHICLE
On Thursday, September 19, 2025, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 unit officers were conducting crime prevention patrols when they received a complaint about a hijacked white Volkswagen Caddy carrying a load of clothing. The GPS coordinates signalled movement of the vehicle in the Honeydew area.
The officers searched for the vehicle in the area and found it abandoned at Ntokozweni Street in Dlamini, Soweto stripped and showing clear signs that suspects had been searching for its tracking device. The team then proceeded to check nearby yards.
Upon arrival at one of the houses, the officers recovered the stolen load (clothing) inside a bedroom along with the interior panels that had been removed from the VW Caddy. The owner of the house, a female, and her son were arrested for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods.
The hijacked vehicle was booked at the SAPS pound for further investigation and the goods were returned to the victim. The suspects were formally charged at Moroka SAPS.
