The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo is calling on the Department of Health to supply water to Mankgaile Clinic at GaMolepo village,Limpopo outside Polokwane.

The EFF notes with dismay that for the past four weeks the clinic didn’t have running water, while the department was aware but no action was taken to address the situation. In line with health services re quirements and stated procedures as per the health standards ,water supply is a crucial and a basic necessity to both employees and patients as well as the functioning of health facilities . Safety is also not guaranteed as there are no lights, the high m ast lighting has been dysfunctional for quite some time, this invites criminal activities in and around the clinic.

The department’s negligence and outright carelessness bothers the community in that the clinic is not conducive and not maintained, worse th resuscitate it , Eve ere is no water . The EFF is concerned about the Limpopo public health which has collapsed and we believe that it needs competent and decisive before the hopeless masses political of our leadership and management to people die in public health facilities. ryday, pregnant women give birth outside the gates of many clinics and they are being blamed for not seeking help on time, because the department is covering up malfeasance and failing to take responsibility an d implement corrective measures. Access to the clinic is another challenge as the road is bumpy and not user friendly for residents and employees of Mankgaile Clinic.

LIMPOPO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO EVACUATE ALL INPATIENTS ADMITTED AT ELIM HOSPITAL TO NEARBY FACILITIES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Limpopo Department of Health is forced to evacuate all inpatients admitted at Elim hospital with immediate effect to nearby facilities until further notice. This is as a results of closure of all access roads to the hospital due to a community protest leaving all healthcare workers and outpatients for the second day failing to access the hospital.

The situation has impacted negatively on the day to day running of the hospital and most importantly on patient care leaving them at risk. Today is the second day that the hospital is mended by our medical interns without any supervision of medical officers because it is only our interns who resides within the hospital premises the rest of medical officers can’t access the hospital. Nursing services has been highly compromised wherein certain nurses out of commitment volunteered not to knock off to avoid leaving patients unattended.

The MEC did visited the hospital this morning to assess the situation and support the staff, unfortunately she couldn’t access the hospital either hence to avoid any regrets, the department is forced to work with the police to evacuate all the patients and temporarily close the hospital until such time the situation is stable.
