The Word "COMPARISON"
Let’s talk about comparison, because it’s quietly killing a lot of people’s confidence in this beauty industry.
I want you to understand something today, social media is not reality.
Many of the beauticians or nail techs you see online are not exactly how they appear in real life. Some can go three days, even a week, without working on a single client. Yet you’re here thinking you’re not good enough because your table is empty for two days.
Relax. You’re doing fine. ❤️
Remember, nails aren’t like food or water, not everyone needs them every day. That’s why some professionals combine their work with other services like barbing, hair styling, or selling products. When one slows down, the other picks up.
Be creative. Think outside the box.
You can work on one client and create five different pieces of content from that session, that’s how people discover you.
Get a model. Offer a free set sometimes, not for charity, but for content that will bring you more clients later.
Have you noticed how there are so many people learning how to do nails, but only a few people consistently getting their nails done? That’s part of why some trainers depend on student fees to keep up with rent and supplies.
So don’t be deceived, it’s not always as perfect as it looks online. Everyone is figuring things out behind the scenes.
And please, stop comparing yourself to anyone.
You can admire someone’s work without losing sight of your own path. You don’t know what they’re going through, how long they’ve been at it, or what it costs them to be where they are.
Focus on your journey.
Stay consistent, stay patient, and stay real.
Your time will come, and when it does, it’ll be worth every slow day and every small beginning. 💅🏽✨
