JOINT SAFETY OPERATION | KIRKWOOD

Working together. Standing together. Keeping Kirkwood safer. 💪

Last Friday, Smhart Security joined forces with SAPS, the SAPS K-9 Unit, Omega Security and SRVCPF for a joint safety operation conducted throughout Kirkwood.

The operation focused on strengthening security visibility and proactively addressing potential criminal activity within the community, including:

Stop-and-search operations
Searches for illegal weapons
Searches for illegal drugs
Active patrols throughout the community
Increased security visibility and crime prevention

Operations such as these demonstrate the importance of collaboration between private security companies and law enforcement. By working together, we can increase visibility, share resources and take proactive steps towards addressing crime and keeping our communities safer.

SUCCESS REPORT | SUSPECT APPREHENDED FOR THEFT

Long Market Street, Colchester | 00:47

Another successful intervention by the Smhart Security response team. 👏

At approximately 00:47, our Control Room received an alarm activation from premises in Long Market Street, Colchester. Response Officer A immediately proceeded to the property to investigate.

Upon arrival, Officer A conducted a thorough inspection of the premises. While checking the rear of the property, he discovered a male suspect actively cutting and removing copper pipes, while causing damage to the premises.

Officer A acted swiftly and apprehended the suspect on site, securing him while awaiting SAPS assistance.

In an excellent example of teamwork and dedication, Officer E, who was off duty at the time and happened to be nearby, also responded to assist Officer A once he became aware of the incident.

Kinkelbos SAPS was contacted, and members arrived at the scene shortly thereafter. The suspect was formally handed over to SAPS for further investigation and detention.

The premises were secured, and the situation was successfully brought under control.

👏 Well done to Officers A and E for their quick thinking, courage and teamwork.

RESPONSE REPORT

Spar Dagbreek | 23:28

Well done to Smhart Security Response Officer K for his quick response to an alarm activation at Spar Dagbreek at approximately 23:28.

Upon arrival, Officer K conducted a thorough inspection of the premises and discovered that the front-door glass had been broken. While checking inside the shop, he spotted a male suspect inside the premises.

Officer K immediately contacted the Smhart Security Control Room, who requested assistance from SAPS. He remained on scene, provided his report to the attending police officers and handed the suspect over to SAPS for further investigation.

👏 Excellent work, Officer K! Your vigilance and professional response helped ensure the situation was handled swiftly and safely.

🚨 SUCCESSFUL INCIDENT | COLESTER 🚨

27 August 2026 | 20:50

Our Colchester Armed Response Officer, Aphiwe, responded swiftly after receiving a report from a concerned neighbour that suspects were busy stripping a shack on a nearby property.

Upon arrival, Officer A caught two male suspects in the act of dismantling the structure and removing zinc sheets. Both suspects were successfully apprehended while still in possession of the stolen materials.

With assistance from the neighbour, SAPS and AfriForum were contacted and arrived on scene to assist. One suspect was handed over to Kinkelbos SAPS for further investigation and processing.

👏 Excellent work, Aphiwe! Your quick response and decisive action helped prevent further damage and theft.

While most of our communities are asleep, the dedicated men and women of Smhart Security are hard at work in Kirkwood & Addo.

Our Armed Response Officers and Management teams have been working tirelessly from late at night through to the early hours of the morning, conducting proactive patrols to help keep our streets safe. SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND NIGHT OPERATIONS

This past weekend, Smhart Security conducted extensive night-time operations across our areas of responsibility, with teams deployed both on foot and in patrol vehicles.

During these proactive operations, numerous individuals were stopped and searched. As a result, various illegal items were confiscated, including suspected drugs, dangerous tools, and other prohibited items found in the possession of suspects.

These operations form part of our ongoing commitment to crime prevention, maintaining public safety, and ensuring a visible security presence within the communities we serve.
