SRD – Decolonization of Music

SK95, Rampage, and Denzil G have reunited under the name SRD (SK95, Rampage, and Denzil G) to deliver a powerful new single titled Decolonization of Music. This project reawakens the jazzy essence of deep soulful house, enriched with the warmth of Afro drums and layered storytelling.

At its heart, the single is more than just music—it’s a narrative. SK95 introduces soulful Xitsonga vocals that tell the story of two siblings who abandon the struggles of the city and return to their rural home under the care of their uncle. This symbolic journey reflects the lived reality of many young South Africans, forced to navigate unemployment and economic hardship in an unforgiving system.

By fusing house, jazz, African rhythms, and authentic storytelling, Decolonization of Music challenges listeners to rethink not only sound but also society. SRD’s message is clear: music can be both healing and revolutionary.

This is not just a reunion—it’s a reclamation. A soundtrack for resilience. A call to restore music to its roots while shaping a future defined by authenticity.
