Title: “Corner of Silence”

At the corner of Fox and Joubert Street in Johannesburg, the morning rush was just beginning.

A well-known attorney stepped out of his car, adjusting his jacket. Seconds later—gunshots shattered the air.

People screamed. Cars froze.

The shooter vanished as quickly as he came.

The attorney lay still on the pavement… briefcase beside him.

Whispers spread through the crowd:
“Hit job…”

By noon, the corner was taped off—but the question remained heavy in the air:

Who wanted him silenced… and why?

Title: “R20 Too Much”

Sipho walked into PEP, tired after a long day at work. He picked up a simple T-shirt marked R79.99.

At the till, the cashier smiled.
“That will be R99.99.”

Sipho frowned. “No, it says R79.99.”

The cashier shrugged. “The system says R99.99.”

A line formed behind him. People started murmuring.

Sipho stood his ground. “Call your manager.”

The manager came, serious and impatient.
“What’s the problem?”

Sipho pointed at the price tag. “You’re overcharging me.”

The manager checked… then sighed.
“It’s a mistake, but you must pay what’s on the system.”

Sipho’s voice rose. “No. The law says I pay the marked price!”

The store went quiet.

After a tense moment, the manager gave in.
“Fine. R79.99.”

Sipho paid, but before leaving, he turned and said:
“If I didn’t speak up, you’d keep doing this to others.”

As he walked out, the people in line looked at him differently—some inspired, some ashamed they stayed silent.

🚨 MURDER & INQUEST – MPUMALANGA 🚨

Police in Mpumalanga have opened a case of murder and an inquest following an incident in Grootvlei on Saturday, 21 March 2026.

A 53-year-old SAPS Captain, based at Bethal Police Station, allegedly shot and killed his 39-year-old female friend before turning the firearm on himself.

According to reports, the officer went to the residence of the woman, where she was with her sister. After they refused to open the door, he allegedly broke a window to gain entry into the house.

It is further alleged that he chased the sister out of the house, leaving him alone with the victim. The sister then sought help, and police were alerted.

Upon arrival, officers found both the Captain and the female victim lying on the floor with gunshot wounds. Both were declared dead at the scene.

A service pistol issued to the Captain was recovered at the scene. Investigations are ongoing. 🚨 MURDER & INQUEST – MPUMALANGA 🚨

They sat in silence after the shift, but this time it felt heavier.
One of them hadn’t made it out of the mine.

No one spoke his name, yet everyone felt the loss.
Under the dim lights, they held onto each other—
working on, but never the same again.
