And boys remain boys even after becoming fathers

DREAM NO MORE
I struggle decoding your words and actions
Many are the dictionaries I have consulted
To learn the meaning of your figures of speech
To understand your proverbs and interjections
Which mostly sound redundant
The same streets that took me into the bush
Where you left me alone
As you went to town with James and Aaron.
When you coat your words with icing sugar
And whisper them into my listening ears
As you face my dotted eyes straight
Just like a venomous Boiga
I fear you will leave me again in tears
To dream alone in the darkest night
Similar dreams we shared in our teens
Before we learnt to commit many sins.
We are facing the same stream from different banks
Between us flow a strong and heavy current
But you demand that I jump into the deep waters
To prove to you that I want to rise up the ranks
And become what will make my heart content
A real man; not a member of the wailers
Instead of at least helping me identify a bridge
And mend the gap you created in the previous age

I am writing to you once again
With much affliction, grief, sorrow and pain
A declaration of the lost trust between us
Because of the mistakes we both can't fix
Even if we were to live together for eternity.
This is an admission of my weakness
That once you take advantage of my meekness
And do to me that which can't be explained in public
An apology of whatever degree cannot work
Even if we are left alone for eternity.
I might be seen laughing at your jokes
Appreciating your works and looks
Or dancing to the beats of your drums and music
But when reality in me sinks like a Titanic
No love or hope can make it to eternity

I had a reflection on my life at Chilinde
Where I got introduced to the doctrines
Of worshipping on Saturday; not Sunday
Of coming to the alters other than the shrines
And giving to God my heart and to man my love.
