BREAKING NEWS: Ekurhuleni Metro Police Deputy Chief Embroiled in Underworld Allegations is Suspended

Julius Mkhwanazi, Deputy Chief of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD), has been granted special leave amid allegations of ties to suspected underworld figure Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala. Mkhwanazi personally applied for the leave, which was confirmed by the metro.

The allegations against Mkhwanazi surfaced after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi accused him of granting undue favors to Matlala during the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. This is not the first time Mkhwanazi has been linked to Matlala. Last year, it was reported that he allegedly handed over blue lights to Matlala, who is accused of attempted murder.

Despite the police watchdog IPID recommending disciplinary action against him, Mkhwanazi was surprisingly promoted to acting head of the EMPD. However, after being implicated at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, the city has finally taken action, granting him special leave. The move has raised questions about the city's handling of the allegations and the potential consequences for Mkhwanazi's career.

BREAKING NEWS : AfriForum Takes Case Against Malema to Trump Administration

AfriForum, a South African civil rights group, has taken its campaign against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema to the international stage. On September 24, 2025, the group delivered a dossier to senior Trump administration officials during a White House visit, alleging Malema's involvement in inciting violence, corruption, and supporting terrorist groups.

The dossier, presented by AfriForum board member Werner Human, highlights Malema's controversial "Kill the Boer" chant and other public statements that have sparked widespread concern. AfriForum, joined by trade union Solidarity, is calling for international sanctions against Malema, arguing that the South African government has failed to hold him accountable.

CEO Kallie Kriel emphasized the global consequences of Malema's actions, pointing to the UK's recent visa denial for Malema on similar grounds. The group also discussed farm attacks and potential expropriation without compensation, which AfriForum links to threats against Afrikaner communities.

The move has sparked intense debate across South African media and social platforms, with some supporting AfriForum's efforts to defend minority rights and others criticizing the group for potentially deepening national divisions. As of September 25, neither Malema nor the EFF has responded to the dossier.

BREAKING NEWS : GAUTENG HEALTH MEC CONDEMNS BLOCKING OF ACCESS TO PUBLIC HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

Johannesburg - Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko has strongly condemned the blocking of access to public healthcare facilities, following the tragic death of a one-year-old child.

The child's mother, Malaiwan National Grace Banda, alleged that members of Operation Dudula prevented her from accessing the Alexandra Clinic to seek medical attention for her sick toddler last week.

However, Operation Dudula has denied these allegations, stating that they did not instruct their members to block access to the clinic.

Despite this denial, over the past few weeks, members of Operation Dudula have been barricading the entrances of public healthcare facilities across Johannesburg. Several videos have surfaced showing them turning away individuals they claim are "undocumented" foreign nationals.

MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko emphasized that access to healthcare is a fundamental human right and that all individuals, regardless of their nationality or documentation status, are entitled to receive medical attention.

"The blocking of access to public healthcare facilities is unacceptable and inhumane," said MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko. "We urge law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to ensure that all individuals can access healthcare facilities without fear of intimidation or harassment."

The Gauteng Department of Health has reassured the public that all healthcare facilities in the province remain open and accessible to everyone, regardless of their nationality or documentation status.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern, with many calling for an end to the intimidation and harassment of foreign nationals seeking medical attention.
