The festivals we value most are those that create meaningful engagement, both with audiences and within the industry.

That’s one of the reasons we’re always excited when our work is selected for Encounters Festival 🙌🏽

From independent cinemas like the The L***a Theatre and Bertha House in Cape Town to screenings at the The Bioscope and Ster Kinekor in Johannesburg, the festival creates spaces for audiences, filmmakers and industry professionals to engage.

For us, a festival screening is never just about being selected. It’s about the conversations that happen afterwards, the communities you reach, and the life a film continues to have beyond the screen.

We’re still grateful that “Dear Sikhonkwane” was part of this year’s edition, and we’re looking forward to where the journey takes the film next.

DEAR SIKHONKWANE is screening at the 28th edition of , the leading documentary festival on the continent 🙌🏽

This selection is a significant moment for us and for the film. “Dear Sikhonkwane” is a deeply intimate portrait of Sikhonkwane Steven Mahlalela, one of the earliest contributors to SiSwati literature. Through his life and work, the film reflects on language as archive, as identity, and as a living vessel of cultural memory across generations.

To have this story premiere within a festival of this calibre is an honour, and a reminder of the growing space African documentary cinema continues to occupy on the global stage.
