CAPITAL SOUNDS We specialize in providing PA systems at major outdoor and indoor events. We specialise in Airshows and Racing events.

We provide commentary and sound systems for outside and indoor events throughout South Africa , Africa and, if needed, anywhere in the world. We also do sound for theatre shows and pageants.

Friday was my first encounter working with the new Chief of the SAAF. I must say I was very impressed. No heavily armed
Bodyguards. I never saw any Black sedans with Blue lights in fact he just walked up and said “ How you doing “. I know the General very well and I think he is going to make a big difference. Great to see Donavan Chetty doing great work as always. A worthy General as is Pat Cele.
No airs and graces.

On behalf of each and every member of our team at Capital Sounds I wish to send our heartfelt condolences to our senior producer Wesley van Zyl. Sadly his father passed away this morning after a long illness. May his soul rest in Peace. His pain and suffering is over. Our thoughts and prayers go to Wesley’s mum and Sister and her little boy. God Bless this family on this sad day.

In a bygone era we used to be collected by C130 Hercules at our home base. We would then fly straight to TFDC. Things have changed and now we drive. This place is very far. We did a nite stop at Louvain which was incredible. Now approaching Swellendam where we will turn left and head down to Test Flight and Development Centre.
Driving solid on the trip have been Philip Scott and Mike Rascher.

So proud of our very own presenter Elvis MANENE. In his spare time he is teaching underprivelged youngster’s from the informal sector. Capital Sounds has donated a white board and stand as a starter. Elvis is a hands on person and is much loved around the country. His exciting commentary in the different black languages has seen crowds cheer with excitement. Keep up the great work Elvis.

After an incredible trip and being away for over a month I had to be up at 04:00 am to once again broadcast at the 47 th Mielie Marathon. This iconic event attracted over 1000 runners with many more in the 21 and 10 km. A great event which Capital has been part of for over 38 years. Today my producer Roger Coetzee celebrates his Birthday. Big day for him. With me I had Elvis MANENE and Wes.

Air Traffic Control is vital at any aviation related event. The controllers are the unsung heroes. If the Pgm is changed they have to act fast. Remain calm and sort the airspace out. I have been blessed over the years to have worked with of the finest controllers around.
One such a person is Rob Purkiss. I met him whilst I was working at the SABC. it was in 1977 whilst he did duty in the Welkom Tower. He came out to Aldam with me where I chatted to Brian Stapelford and Brian Zeederburg. This was at the EAA Convention. A huge event and my first aviation int.
Rob and I worked together on many many major events. Not only in SA but over
the border as well. I often have stated that he is one of the finest ATCs to have controlled in Africa. A voice that is such
a pleasure to listen to. Rob was a SAAF controller. Later Dept of Transport and then ATNS. Later joined the CAA. Thank you for your service to aviation Rob Purkiss. Salute.

Capital is proud to often work alongside outstanding presenters to provide expert commentary in their respective field. One such an event is the Midmar Mile which we have been the host audio broadcaster for over twenty years. The voices are of the finest one can find. Wayne Ridden is the doyen of open water swimming in Africa.
He also does a lot of ramp work. Then there is Arnie Geerdts. A pro through and through. Works in the mobile studio with me. Gavin Nesbitt is on the ramp and Martin Gee Godfrey looks after the start. This legend is not only a fine broadcaster but swims each and every year. Been doing so for over 50 years. A team one be so proud to be associated with. My friend Len Heine looks after all the Stage Audio and structures.
