On Sunday, 22 February 2026, police confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old man in connection with an alleged r@pe incident that reportedly took place at a TVET college in Mthatha. The incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 14 February 2026, at approximately 06:00.
According to preliminary reports, a 19-year-old female student had been socialising with a group of individuals at one of the student residences on campus. At some point during the gathering, the student lost consciousness after consuming liquor.

The victim later regained consciousness and noticed signs that raised concerns of a possible s€xual assault. The matter was subsequently reported to the authorities, prompting an immediate investigation.
Police officers responded to the complaint and initiated standard investigative procedures. As part of the process, forensic evidence was collected, and samples were taken not only from the arrested suspect but also from other individuals identified as persons of interest. These samples will be analysed as part of the ongoing investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities have indicated that investigations are still underway, and further details will be made available as the case progresses. Police in Lebowakgomo, Capricorn District, have launched an investigation into the theft of 11 goats valued at approximately R27,500 from Malekapane Village, Ga-Mphahlele. The incident occurred between Friday, 13 February 2026, at 18:00, and Saturday, 14 February 2026, at 03:30, when the complainant's goats were stolen from a kraal in her yard. The owner had secured the gate with wires, but thieves managed to take the animals. A dog found dead on the premises is suspected to have been p0isoned. CONFIRMED NEWS IN | Mourning family in Kwazulu Natal decided to rock up with a deceased body at the Capitec bank branch as a proof of death.

Chaos erupted in the Stanger CBD today after a dramatic and very hands-on dispute at Capitec Bank forced the branch to shut its doors and brought business in the area to a complete standstill.

According to witnesses, a family who had gone to the bank to claim life insurance / funeral policy funds were told they needed to provide proof of death.

Customers and staff reportedly ran out of the building at record speed, setting what may be a new Olympic 100m Banking Sprint. The branch was immediately closed, while police moved in and the surrounding area was temporarily shut down.

Makuya Police, operating under the Vhembe District, opened an investigation into an alleged r@pe that reportedly occurred in the village of Mavunde between 26 June 2025 and 15 September 2025. According to the report seen by Breaking News RSA, on the morning of 22 November 2025 at approximately 08:30, the victim’s mother was at home with her 14‑year‑old daughter, who has a disability. While the mother was present, she noticed that her daughter’s abdomen appeared swollen and, concerned, asked the girl whether she might be pregnant. The daughter initially denied any possibility of pregnancy.

The following day, 23 November 2025, at around 06:00, the mother again entered the daughter’s room and repeated the question. This time the girl disclosed that her cousin had entered her room on multiple occasions between June and September 2025 and had forced sexual in*******se with her without her consent. The mother promptly took the victim to the nearest clinic for a medical examination. Healthcare professionals who examined the girl confirmed that she was indeed pregnant, which corroborated the allegation of sexual assault.

Upon receiving this information, law enforcement officials were notified and a formal r**e case was opened. As of the latest report, no arrests have been made because both the alleged perpetrator and the victim are minors, the matter is being referred to a probation officer for further guidance and possible intervention.
