ECZ Registers Over 1.6 Million New Voters

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced that a provisional total of 1,615,922 new voters have been registered during the 2025 Mass Registration of Voters exercise.

Speaking at a press briefing to announce the final provisional statistics, ECZ Chairperson Mrs. Mwangala Zaloumis, SC, in her official statement stated that the newly captured voters bring the Commission’s overall provisional register to 8,861,918 voters.

The top four provinces are are;
Lusaka-1,455,808
Copperbelt- 1,294,354
Eastern -1,136,885
Southern -1,119,174

CHASEFU TOWN COUNCIL COMMISSIONS 20 COMMUNITY PROJECTS.
Chasefu Town Council commissioned 20 community projects and water schemes and solar installations in chasefu District . The commissioning ceremony was graced by the presence of the Eastern Province Minister Peter Phiri who officially officiated the event.

10-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being Struck by Lightning in Chasefu District

A 10-year-old boy has died after being struck by lightning in Chief Magodi’s Chiefdom in Chasefu District of Eastern Province, as he was herding cattle.

Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred yesterday, 29th November 2025, around 14:00 hours.

The deceased, identified as Moses Nali of Chilwayo Village, had taken the cattle to nearby fields around 13:00 hours when it began to rain. He sought shelter under a mango tree, where he was struck by lightning.

The lightning hit him on the head and travelled down the left side of his body through the chest, partially burning his clothes.

Police who inspected the body confirmed that no foul play is suspected.

The body has since been released to the family for burial.
