OPEN LETTER TO CIVIC LEADERS

I am writing to you with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency from the streets of Maiteneke,chabanyama, Chiwempala, lulamba Not forgetting the good people of mikiloni. Our communities is in dire need of a rehabilitation center to address the growing crisis of addiction and mental health challenges. Every day, I witness firsthand the devastating impact these issues have on individuals and families in our area.

We cannot afford to wait any longer. Lives are at stake, and every day without proper support and resources is another day lost to the cycle of suffering and despair.

I implore you, as our elected representative, to take immediate action. Stand with us in this fight for compassion, dignity, and healing. Allocate the necessary funds and resources to establish a rehabilitation center that offers comprehensive support and treatment options for those battling addiction and mental health disorders.

In our capacity,we organized some resources and managed to purchase some foods and other needed items during this period of mourning.Additionary we have also volunteered to provide two Rosa buses on the day of burial to help with the movements of our grieved family.

The arrest and charging of Chief Chikwa of Chama District in Eastern Province for allegedly cutting down trees in the Game Management Area(GMA) makes a sad narrative.

The Chief, who is the custodian of land and the promoter of rule of law is part of the Governance System and if anything his case is supposed to be dealt with administratively instead of subjecting him to such public embarrassment.

Maybe before making any conclusion on the matter, there is need to delve more into the issue at hand so as to know what Game Management Area(GMA) is all about.

These are areas which were established as buffer zones around the Parks networks and are used for a variety of both consumptive, and to a lesser degree, non-consumptive tourism.

The main purpose of this type of management is to optimize the production of game on a territory in order to ensure the sustainable exploitation of game without disrupting the farmig-forestry-hunting balance.

In simpler terms, Game Management Areas are occupied by both animals and Human beings and owned or managed by the state and the community.

Chief Chikwa, as a traditional leader, is part of the local community which should have a share in the National Preserves.

Suffice to say Game Management Areas are established to serve the interest of the Government and the local Community.

Nonetheless,Chief Chikwa's arrest over the cutting down of trees on GMA should remind Zambians about Forest 27 in Chieftainess Nkomeshya's Chiefdom in Lusaka Province which was degazetted by PF regime for selfish motives.

The forest was stripped of its value as a National Preserve and an underground water source for Lusaka Province. When in opposition, the UPND leaders were very opposed to forest 27 and promised Zambians that the whole deal would be reversed by re-gazzeting the forest and demolishing all structures built on it.

Luckily Zambians got the message very clearly and gave UPND party the mandate to preside over the national affairs with the hope of seeing the fulfilment of the hypothetical prophecy of Doom. Now that they are in the driver's seat they have become "impotent" on the issue of forest 27 because they are all partakers of the "forbidden fruit" and can not shoot themselves in the foot. CHIWAMILA GALU KULUMA MBUZI.Truth be told, three quarters of these Political tyrants both from the ruling and opposition are "bloodstained" on the issue of Forest 27 and that's why they are quiet over the same. Whose interest or benefits are these selfish politicians serving if not for the many suffering Zambians who are deprived of their constitutional rights to own land?

Today Chief Chikwa of Chama District is arrested and charged for cutting down trees in Game Management Area and yet the "holier than thou" selfish individuals are busy building and farming on Forest 27 which is supposed to be a national preserve for all Zambians.

Where is the fairness in the application of rule of law here, who is more sinful between the arrested Chief Chikwa and these selfish individuals occupying Forest 27? Zambians are watching and someday soon such issues will be a Cock-and-Bull Story because posterity will judge the real "nemophilist".
