CHIRUNDU DISTRICT TO RECEIVE FIRST EVER FOOTBALL STADIUM IN MANDENGA
A team from Chirundu Town Council (CTC) yesterday took prospective bidders at the proposed site for construction of the first ever stadium to be built using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Chirundu Central Ward.
Among those part of the site visitation were potential bidders, CTC technical staff, and Chirundu Central Ward Councillor. Phase 2 of the stadium that will be constructed with the financial support CDF will soon commence.
Speaking After The Site Visit For the Proposed Construction of The Stadium, Chirundu Central Area Councillor Norman Nalube said the stadium is expected to host various sporting codes and entertainment which will contribute to the growth of local talent and stimulate economic development in the district.
Mr Nalube disclosed that the facility will significantly increase sports development in the area by providing young people with opportunities to showcase their talents and will also position Chirundu as a local sporting.
Speaking During The Same Site Visit, CTC Senior Procurement Officer Fanwell Saputu disclosed that the site visit is important for bidders in order for them assess the site conditions and gather necessary information to ensure accurate bidding.
“This allows bidders to evaluate potential risks, understand project requirements and prepare a more realistic and competitive bid,” Mr Saputu said.
He added that the prospective contractors that assessed the named site were required to submit their Bill of Quantities (BOQs) to the Local Authority to enable quality and transparency in the selection process.
“With regard to the road map, the bidders are required to submit their bid submission before 18th July 2025, stating that evaluation and awarding of the contract will be done in first two weeks of August 2025,” he said.
