The Choma west mission district of the seventh-day Adventist church under Musi-O-Tunya Conference concluded its 2025 camp meeting in jubilation as they bapatized 43 souls Saturday afternoon of 16th August 2025.
The camp meeting ran from 10th August with Pastor Faxon Shangala as the first Speaker while pastor Kisco Mweemba was the second and Modesty Muchindu as third speaker.
With the theme which said "I will go Rooted in God's Family," pastor Shangala laboured to interpret scriptures with sermons centered around God's love who calls all those who accept Him as His own and no longer foreigners nor strangers but citizens of His kingdom.
The exegesis led to 43 souls being baptized at Cheenzu by the district pastor Slogar Shiluwe Saturday afternoon.
Prior to baptism, the church was privileged to worship with an invited guest Trevor Mwiinde and his entourage Saturday afternoon.
In welcoming him, the district pastor emphasized that the invitation was not for Mwiinde's political mileage but that him together with the church should attain salvation.
Politically Mwiinde is eying for Choma Central member of Parliament in 2026 on the ruling UPND ticket while currently serving as the vice national youth chairperson for the united party for National Development.
Mwiinde who is by faith an Adventist thanked the church for the invitation stressing that he felt honored by the invitation such that even when he had other commitments he chose to honor their invitation.
"I am really humbled by your invitation. Therefore I know that where such big gatherings are held people are normally faced with water challenges. And for that matter, to beef up the already existing borehole, my family and I have decided to sink another borehole for you." Said Trevor Mwiinde as he donated k16,000 cash.
"I hope that this will not be viewed as showing off but as a contribution from deep down my heart with reverence to God from one of your members. I am giving this money right away, I don't like pledging because I know pledging without honoring the pledge will make many miss heaven and I don't want to be among them." Concluded Mwiinde.
The district pastor thanked Mwiinde for the gesture outlining that indeed water had been a bit of a challenge in the camp as the single borehole could not satisfy the masses that camped owing to the water levels where it is. He added that this challenge was only resolved through the involvement of some well wishers who made sure that water was ferried using the SWASCO water bouzer.
The camp meeting came to an end later in the evening of the same Sabbath with different leaders on behalf of the people thanking the committee and the speakers for the powerful messages and smooth running of the camp.
