President-elect Hakainde Hichilema will be sworn in as President next Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has announced.

Kangwa said the seven-day period for filing a petition challenging the presidential election had expired, with the Judiciary having received no petition.

“In this regard, the swearing-in of the President-elect, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, shall be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in accordance with Article 105 of the Constitution of Zambia, Act No. 2 of 2016,” Kangwa said in a statement issued last evening.

Kafue General Hospital has lost a senior Doctor following a road traffic accident that occurred around Munali Hills this afternoon, August 22, 2026.

The accident is reported to have occurred between 15:00 and 16:00 hours.

Dr. Nyondo’s death has left family, colleagues, friends and the wider Kafue community mourning the tragic loss.

Known for his soft and gentle talk and his excellent care to his patients.

May God grant the family strength and comfort during this difficult time.

May his soul rest in peace.

Police investigate death of Lisa Mutalu!

Police in Lusaka are investigating the death of popular content creator and social media influencer Lisa Mutalu.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Chipo Kaitisha says officers are on the ground investigating the circumstances surrounding Mutalu’s reported death.

Mutalu was reported dead in the early hours of today.

Speaking in a telephone interview with NKANI, Kaitisha said police were conducting investigations and awaiting a full report on the matter.

“Officers are on the ground. We are waiting for the full [report] regarding the same,” she said.

Tributes have since flooded social media following news of Mutalu’s reported death.

The cause of death has not yet been established. Police say a statement will be issued once investigations are concluded.
