FAZ NORTHERN PROVINCE WOMEN'S LEAGUE HOLDS CONSULTATIVE MEETING AHEAD OF 2026 TRANSITION SEASON.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Northern Province Women's League held a consultative meeting at Kasama Youth Centre to prepare for the 2026 transition season.

The meeting brought together representatives from women's football clubs across the province to discuss the growth of the women's game, challenges affecting the league, and strategies to improve league administration and player development.

Speaking virtually, FAZ Northern Province Chairman, Mr Chikonde Mbalazi, thanked delegates for their continued dedication to women's football and encouraged all stakeholders to work together to ensure a successful and well-organised league.

FAZ Northern Province Women's Representative, Ms Beauty Namwawa, urged clubs to remain united and appealed to businesses and corporate organisations to come on board and support more women's football teams.

Delegates deliberated on key issues, including governance, league operations, and improving the competitiveness of the league. It was agreed that stakeholders would continue working collaboratively to strengthen women's football across Northern Province.

A total of 12 teams from Kasama and Mungwi Districts will compete in the upcoming season. An additional 8 teams will participate in a second zone, which will be announced in due course. Plans are also underway to expand the league into other districts within the province.

The meeting was attended by several FAZ Northern Province officials, including Youth Representative Mr Donald Mwelwa, Regional Secretary Mr Leonard Nkhata, Registrar Mr Mupesa Mupeseni, and Referees Coordinator Mr Sampa Bwalya. Vice Chairman Mr Bwalya Martin and Committee Member Mr Mbulo David participated virtually.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to implement the agreed resolutions and work together towards a successful 2026 transition season while continuing to promote the growth and development of women's football in Northern Province.

FAZ Northern Province has assured that similar engagements will be done to Men's teams in smaller groups as the association is unable to facilitate for a larger group.

NORTHERN PROVINCE BOYS FINISH THIRD AT ZANACO U-17 GRASSROOTS TOURNAMENT

The Northern Province Boys Under-17 Team secured a third-place finish at the Zanaco U-17 Grassroots Tournament after defeating Southern Province 1-0 in the third and fourth-place playoff.

The Northern Province Girls Under-17 Team secured a third-place finish at the Zanaco U-17 Grassroots Tournament after overcoming Central Province Girls, 2-1in favor of Abena Ng'wena in the third and fourth play offs.

The team displayed determination, teamwork, and resilience, producing impressive performances that earned them a place among the tournament's top three teams. Their efforts reflected the growing talent and potential of young female footballers in Northern Province.

Northern Province Boys defeated by Eastern Province Boys on post match penalties.

This means both our boys and girls have to fight for a third place finish. As our girls were earlier defeated by Southern Province Girls also on post match penalties in the semi-finals.
