Ruff Kid’s latest post has people laughing, but the timing is something else. 😂

The post comes at an oddly timed moment, with Brian Mundubile currently facing police questioning over an alleged treason offence.

🇨🇳 XI JINPING TO SEND SPECIAL ENVOY FOR HICHILEMA’S INAUGURATION

Chinese President Xi Jinping will send his Special Envoy and Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Xian Hui, to represent him at President Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration on September 1.

Xian Hui will attend the ceremony on behalf of President Xi Jinping as Zambia prepares for the inauguration.

A 26-year-old nurse of Kazungula, Milimo Mpongo, has allegedly taken her own life while in police custody after being accused of scamming mobile money agents.

Police say she was detained after allegedly visiting four Airtel Money businesses and requesting deposits ranging from K1,000 to K3,400.

Her body is awaiting postmortem examination.

A 25 kilogram bag of mealie meal could now cost you less than expected, but there is a small catch.

The Zambia National Service has reduced the price of Eagles Mealie Meal, with a 25 kilogram bag of breakfast meal selling at K175 when ordered, compared to the K185 retail price.

Roller meal is also cheaper on order at K135, while the retail price is K145.

The difference may only be K10, but when every kwacha has to stretch, even that can matter.

The mealie meal is being sold through the ZNS Chongwe, Monze and Mpika Milling Plants, with Eagles mealie meal also available at Chawama Market.

And you do not have to buy a full 25 kilogram bag.

A 12.5 kilogram bag of breakfast meal costs K87 on order and K92 at retail, while the same quantity of roller meal is going for K67.50 on order and K72.50 retail.

ZNS says the initiative is aimed at giving consumers another source of affordable mealie meal and improving access to the country's staple food.

After days of silence, Makebi Zulu has returned to social media with Psalm 109.

The timing is hard to ignore.

Psalm 109 is a prayer attributed to David, asking God for justice and help against accusers and enemies.

That post comes as Zulu and Brian Mundubile face police questioning over an alleged offence of treason, after being warned and cautioned.

Zulu made no reference to the case in his post.

One commenter jokingly summed up the reaction: “A verse won’t save him from this situation.”

So was Zulu simply sharing a personal prayer, or was there more behind the choice of Psalm 109?

The questioning has now taken a more serious turn.

Police have recorded warn and caution statements from NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, in connection with an alleged offence of treason.

The two opposition leaders were taken in for questioning this afternoon and are still being held in police custody.

Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi says investigations are continuing, with further information expected as the inquiries progress.

For now, the big question is what comes next for Mundubile and Makebi.

FOUR DEAD, 36 INJURED IN RUFUNSA CRASH

Four people have died and 36 others have been injured following a head-on collision involving a Power Tools bus and a Volvo truck on the Great East Road in Lukwipa, Rufunsa District.

The crash happened around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday as the bus, carrying 57 passengers, was travelling towards Chipata.

Police say the truck, heading towards Lusaka, moved into the opposite lane while attempting to avoid a stationary vehicle before colliding with the bus.

The bus driver, Ask Mulobela, and conductor Innocent Mulobela died in the crash. Police say the conductor was the driver's son.

Two passengers travelling in the truck also died, including Fortune Mwanza. The identity of the second passenger, believed to be aged between 25 and 30, is yet to be established.

Thirty-five bus passengers were admitted to Mpanshya Mission Hospital, while the truck driver, Paul Banda, sustained serious injuries and was also hospitalised.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged. Police have opened an inquiry file as investigations continue.
