On Wednesday at 15:00hrs, the Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation family gathered at St. Francis Square to bid a heartfelt farewell to Dr. Bwalya Laishi as he retired from active service.

Dr. Laishi’s dedication, leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment have made a lasting impact on MEF and the many lives he has touched over the years. His professionalism, humility, and passion for service have been a true inspiration to colleagues, partners, and the wider community.

As we marked this important milestone, we celebrated not only his years of service, but also the legacy he leaves behind — one of excellence, compassion, and transformation.

We wish Dr. Bwalya Laishi good health, peace, happiness, and abundant blessings in his retirement. May this new chapter bring him fulfillment, joy, and treasured moments with family and loved ones.

MEF and Bread for the World Strengthen Partnership for Sustainable Community Development
Mindolo, Kitwe, Zambia — 13 May 2026

The Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation (MEF) has reaffirmed its partnership with Bread for the World following a three-day working visit held from 11 to 13 May 2026.

The visit was conducted by Ms. Sybille Frideres from Germany, who was accompanied in delegation by Mr. Hansjoerg Goetz (in absentia), representing Bread for the World’s engagement with MEF.

The mission focused on strengthening collaboration in agriculture, community development, and skills empowerment, as well as reviewing ongoing project implementation in local communities.

Field Visits Highlight Community Impact

During the visit, Ms. Frideres, together with the MEF Management Team and the Director, Reverend Professor Hoyce Jacob Lyimo Mbowe, toured key project sites including the Agricultural Department, the Chilobwe Community, and the Mindolo Training Farm.

The field visits highlighted MEF’s practical interventions in sustainable agriculture, vocational training, and community empowerment aimed at improving livelihoods.

Leadership Reflections on Partnership Impact

Reverend Professor Mbowe stated:
“We are deeply grateful for the ongoing partnership with Bread for the World. Their support continues to strengthen our efforts in empowering communities through agriculture, education, and skills development.”

Ms. Sybille Frideres stated:

🌟 Welcoming Better Vision at MEF 👁️

Today, we are delighted to receive the team from Phil Eye Hospital here at Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation in Kitwe.

Phil Eye Hospital has visited the school to provide free eye examinations for all students and community members. The exercise began at 10:00 hrs and will continue until 15:00 hrs.
Students and community members are turning up in large numbers to have their eyes tested by the medical team. The specialists are also giving advice on proper eye care and identifying people who requirefurther treatment or glasses.

Their presence brings hope and practical support to our community through specialized eye care services. From comprehensive eye examinations to cataract surgery, glaucoma management, and vision correction, their work is a reminder that clear vision changes lives.

This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to holistic well-being—ensuring that individuals not only thrive spiritually and socially, but also enjoy good health.

We encourage our community members to take advantage of these vital services and prioritize their eye health. 👓✨
