LGBTQ gang in Zambia burn boy 25, for rejecting their love proposal

A 25 year old boy, Chama of Lusaka's Chilenje Mapoloto township in Zambia, has died after being burnt inside a house by a group of g**s.

The father to the deceased told local media that his son was burnt after he rejected to have a night out with a group of g**s.

According to family of Chama, they were only informed around 03hrs that the house in which the deceased was sleeping was on fire on Saturday last week.

"We rushed to the house and found Chama in the house while it was on fire. Luckily, we rescued him and rushed him to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) but unfortunately he died on Sunday around 09:00"

The father to Chama said, " before dying, the doctors luckily opened his mouth and he spoke his last words saying he was burnt by g**s who proposed love to him but refused to give in. My son mentioned the names of those he knows are involved"

The family reported the matter to a local police post ,but were told there was no enough man power and fuel to follow up the suspects. The Police asked the family to either effect citizen arrest themselves or provide transport for the Police to operate.

However, days later, reports emerged that five people have been arrested in connection with the incident. The Police command in Zambia has, however, given the issue no significance.

Speculation is that, the Police are reluctant to act decisively because the administration in Zambia has a soft spot for LGBTQ community in the country.

Recently, the Zambian President Mr.Hakainde Hichilema told New Lines on the sidelines of the U.N. meeting that homosexuality was a personal choice and that his government will not force people to be what they don't want.

“That is their choice and we cannot kill them for their choice. The issue is that in our country that is illegal. It is a decision that they made for themselves but remember we must uphold the law. We are a government that is committed to the rule of law.”

Sishuwa Sishuwa, a historian and academic at the University of Zambia, offered a sharp rebuttal of the president’s remarks: “Why would anyone ‘choose’ to be le***an, gay, bisexual or transgender in a society where they will likely be subject to state persecution and severe social stigma?”

EMBASSIES DEFY GOVT, FLY LGBTQ FLAGS

Wednesday, 17th May 2023
Despite concerns, public outrage and protestations against the practice, and despite assurances from President Hakainde Hichilema, the EU and its member states are flying LGBTQ flags today to commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia which was created in 2004.
Last year, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations stated that it had written to the embassies concerned that had flown the LGBTQ flag on May 17.
Zambia like many African countries criminalise homosexuality as it offends religious, cultural and traditional rights and has not recognised LGBTQ rights as Human Rights.
A check at the EU, Swedish and other embassies revealed that the Missions defied earlier concerns and have flown the flag.
The Government of President Hichilema has been repeatedly accused of tolerating or being soft with the LGBTQ Agenda to allegedly receive favourable western financial and aid support.

PRELIMINARY REPORT ON PIPELINE RUPTURE AT KM 839 SWAYA, NEAR M.U.S.T. IYUNGA MBEYA

Background

Tazama Pipelines Limited is aparastatal owned by the governments of Zambia and Tanzania by shares 67% and 33% respectively.

It operates a 1,710 km pipeline transporting finished products from the port of Dar es Salaam to receiving terminal at Ndola, republic of Zambia.

In Tanzania, Tazama owns a 6 storage tanks tank farm with capacity of 231,000,000 litres, and 5 booster pumping stations situated at Kigamboni, Mikese Morogoro, Elphons Pass Kilosa, Mbigili Iringa, and Inyala Mbeya.

There are 2 booster pump stations in Zambia, Chinsali and Kalonje.

Source of Rupture

On 15th May, 2023, at around 13;40 hrs, a contractor, working on behalf of Tarura, was carying out road works at the said area, and while grading the road, he ruptured Tazama pipelines causing serious damage to the pipeline and spillage of over a milion litres of Low sulphur gasoil [LSG] which gushed out of the ruptured pipeline.

Action taken by Tazama

At around 13;10 hrs, operator on duty noticed an abnormal change of parameters [a rapid pressure drop] downstream the pipeline.

Immediatel, the station ordered a line survey to the walking patrols along the line and at about 1340 hrs the Swaya ward councillor rang Tazama to inform about the rupture.

An emergence response team was organised and sent to the site. All procedures put in place were caried out like isolating the problematic section by closing the valves at Km 799 and km 856 Songwe.

On arrival at scene at around 14;30, the team assessed the situation and started procedures for containing the leak. Because of the abnormality of the rupture, [big hole caused the the Motor grader blade] the team requested assistance from Dar es Salaam regional office, for more machinery/equipment assisted repairs.

By the time of writing this report, the team with their equipment is on the way to the site.

Costs associated with this rupture

Preliminary cost includes, about 1.0 million litres of spilled LSG, cost of repairs consisting of mobilization of manpower and equipment, supervisory and administrative costs to be worked out after repairs are completed and demobilization is done.

In addition to the above costs, idle time cm loss of business as a result of this will also be calculated. Environmental degradation associated costs will also be calculated.

Conclusion

It is estimated that operations will resume in 2 days' time on completion of repair works and environmental clean-up. It is also worth noting that the pipeline Right of way is very welI located but it seems the contractor neglected the markings.
