CHIRUNDU TOWN COUNCILL KICKS OFF 3.2M ROAD REHABILITATION UNDER CDF. Chirundu District 26/07/2025.
Chirundu Town Council has commenced the grading and spot gravelling of feeder roads across the district following a directive by Republican President Mr Hakainde Hichilema, aimed at improving connectivity in rural communities.
Speaking after a monitoring tour of the works in Chirundu Central Ward CTC Assistant Director of Engineering Kaumba Saihemba highlighted that project includes grading, shaping, gravelling, and compacting the roads.
Mr Saihemba added that the road works will be done in all the 12 wards, with the local authority to commence works with Kadunga and extend the grading to other parts of the district.
Eng. Saihemba revealed that government released K3.2 million (three million, two hundred thousand kwacha) to Chirundu Town Council for fuel and lubricants for the machinery carrying out the works as a maintenance grant under the presidential initiative program to rehabilitate feeder roads.
He has however implored, community members to support the project by creating a conducive working environment for CTC engineers and workers to ensure its timely completion within the timeframe.
And Richard Muyunda a resident of Chirundu Central welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely stating that many roads in the areas had become impassable due to potholes.
Mr Muyunda has since thanked the local authority for embarking on grading the roads in the district as it will be easy for members of the community to access health care services and the market place.
