ZAM and FNB Zambia Join Forces for Manufacturers Month!

On November 15, 2023, the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) proudly announced its collaboration with Zambia
in a groundbreaking partnership for the inaugural Manufacturers Month, running from 23rd October to 24th November 2023.

Under the theme "Catalysing Value Chains for Sustainable Growth: Leaving No One Behind," this month-long celebration showcases the unique linkages fostered by the manufacturing sector. FNB Zambia, as the main partner, has committed ZMW500,000 to ensure the success of this initiative.

Kabanda Lilanda, Head of Business and Commercial at FNB Zambia, expressed the bank's dedication to sustainable growth. FNB Zambia has already disbursed K200 million in loans to SMEs from July 2022 to September 2023, with a focus on supporting businesses in the agro-processing value chain.

Muntanga Mfula Lindunda, CEO of ZAM, highlighted the shared commitment to overcome challenges facing the manufacturing sector. The partnership aims to unlock new avenues for innovation, job creation, and economic advancement.

Celebrating Innovation: Zanaco Green Innovation Challenge Winners!

These remarkable startups have proven their commitment to driving positive change in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

The Zanaco Green Innovation Challenge kicked off on the 4th of August, 2023, as a platform to empower startups in their mission to address these critical SDGs. Over 80 promising applicants entered the competition, showcasing their innovative solutions.

The journey continued with the Top 10 finalists participating in the intensive Zanaco Green Innovation Challenge Boot Camp at The Sissing Sanctuary from the 4th to the 8th of September, 2023. This immersive experience provided a unique opportunity for these startups to refine their ideas, connect with mentors, and enhance their solutions.

Yesterday’s Pitch Day marked the culmination of this incredible journey. The Top 5 finalists, armed with newfound knowledge and refined pitches, presented their innovative solutions to a distinguished panel of judges from diverse sectors. Their ideas not only demonstrated creativity and ingenuity but also showcased the potential to create a lasting impact on our environment and society.

We extend our gratitude to Zanaco Bank for spearheading this initiative and providing a platform that fosters innovation and sustainability. The Zanaco Green Innovation Challenge has undoubtedly paved the way for a greener, more sustainable future.

Zambian Business Lupiya successfully secures US$8.25 million in Series A funding to scale operations in its home market and in new ones.

Founded in 2016, Lupiya works to bridge the financial inclusion gap by offering easy-to-use, technology-driven financial solutions to the unbanked and underbanked populations in Zambia.
Its US$8.25 million Series A round was led by Alitheia IDF Fund, with substantial participation from INOKS Capital SA and the German Investment Bank KfW DEG.

The funding will be channeled into enhancing Lupiya’s technological infrastructure, expanding its range of financial products, and scaling its operations to reach more customers.
