ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION
The strength of Zambia has always been found in our unity. Our national motto, "One Zambia, One Nation," reminds us that despite our different political beliefs, tribes, religions, or backgrounds, we remain one people with one shared destiny.
Every Zambian has the constitutional right and the free will to support a political party or candidate of his or her choice without fear, intimidation, or discrimination. Democracy flourishes when citizens are free to express their opinions peacefully and cast their votes according to their conscience.
Violence, threats, and political intimidation have no place in our democracy. They undermine peace, discourage participation, and weaken the very foundation of our nation. Every political player, regardless of party affiliation, must reject and publicly denounce all forms of violence and instead promote issue-based campaigns built on respect, tolerance, and dialogue.
The Church also has a vital role to play during this campaign period. As the moral conscience of society, it must actively preach peace, encourage reconciliation, and boldly condemn political violence wherever it occurs. The Church should continue to remind all citizens that leadership is about service, love, and respect for human dignity.
Furthermore, the Zambia Police Service and all other law enforcement agencies must carry out their constitutional duties diligently, professionally, and impartially—without fear or favor. Justice must be applied equally to everyone, regardless of political affiliation, to ensure public confidence in the electoral process.
As we move toward the elections, let us choose peace over conflict, unity over division, and ideas over intimidation. Let us demonstrate to the world that Zambia's democracy is strengthened not by violence, but by the free and peaceful participation of its people.
One Zambia, One Nation. Peace Today, Peace Tomorrow, Peace Always.
