~ 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐌. 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 ~

In this digital era, FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) isn't just a buzz word, it is an epidemic.

You’ve been to all the events. Sat in every seminar. Nodded through countless keynotes. Posted selfies with thought leaders you barely had time to listen to. You even clapped at things you didn’t fully understand. Because—well—everyone else did.

Let’s talk.

There’s a version of self-discovery that looks like growth, smells like growth, but doesn’t become growth.

It’s that high of always being around “big rooms”. The addiction to being seen, tagged, invited. The illusion that presence equals progress. But here's the hard truth: exposure without reflection is entertainment.

The danger? You become a collector of moments, not a cultivator of wisdom. A tourist in your own development.

Every event you attend, every quote you repost, every “aha moment” you jot down—it all means nothing if you don’t sit with it long enough to wrestle it into action.

What if you became deliberate? Before the next masterclass, next webinar, next conference, next concert, next event, ask yourself:

• Why am I really going?

• What question do I need answered?

• What am I hoping to walk away with—not to post, but to practice?

You don’t grow by being everywhere. You grow by becoming aware—of what’s sticking, what’s shifting, and what’s still just noise. Self-discovery isn’t about having been there. It’s about who you’re becoming afterwards.

So go if you must.
But grow on purpose.!!!!!!

~ 𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗢𝗥. 𝗖𝗢𝗔𝗖𝗛. 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗢𝗥. 𝗜𝗗𝗢𝗟 ~

Picture your journey like a ship sailing through uncharted waters. The right voices will make all the difference. Some will help you read the skies, others will tighten your sails, and a rare few will clear the entire ocean for you.

Now, I always get to hear many people call whoever they are inspired by as their "mentor". I penned this down to share in less complicated terms each of the above. So, who is a mentor? Who is a coach? Who is a sponsor? Who is an IDOL?

𝟏) 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫

("I’ve sailed this route. Let me tell you where the rocks are hidden.")

A mentor has been where you are. They don’t just give advice—they give context. Their wisdom is hard-earned, their lessons are tattooed on the map. A great mentor won’t just tell you what to do; they’ll make sure you understand why.

Mentorship isn’t a contract. It’s not about sitting across a mahogany desk while someone dispenses life lessons. Sometimes, it’s a single conversation. Sometimes, it’s years of guidance. But always—it’s perspective you can’t Google.

𝟐. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡

("I see your potential. Now let’s get to work.")

A coach is not here for your excuses. They won’t just inspire you—they’ll train you. A coach’s job is to refine you, to break bad habits, to push you beyond comfort.

If their feedback doesn’t make you at least a little uncomfortable, you might just be paying for a very expensive pep talk. Real coaching hurts before it helps.

And no, coaching isn’t just for athletes and CEOs. There are coaches for public speaking, personal finance—even for breathing properly (which, let’s be honest, some of us desperately need. lol).

𝟑. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫

("I’m opening the door. Walk through it like you belong.")

A sponsor doesn’t just believe in you—they bet on you. They have power, they have influence, and they’re willing to spend it on getting you in the right rooms. But here’s the catch:

A mentor gives advice.
A coach sharpens your skills.
A sponsor puts their name on the line for you.

And trust me—nobody does that lightly. Sponsors don’t just hand out golden tickets. They back people who are ready to deliver.

𝟒. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐝𝐨𝐥

("You admire them. They don’t know you exist. That’s life.")

The people you look up to, the icons you daydream about becoming. But admiration is not education. You can’t reverse-engineer success from a viral tweet or a podcast episode.

Your idol will not mentor you.
They will not coach you.
They will not sponsor you.

What they will do is give you a glimpse of what’s possible. But after that? It’s all on you.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫 so you don’t repeat mistakes they’ve already made.

𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 so you stop making mistakes you don’t need to.

𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫 so your mistakes matter less—and your wins matter more.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐬? Enjoy the inspiration. Just don’t confuse it for a strategy.

(If this has been helpful, please comment, share, and tag your mentor, Coach, sponsor .... well, probably even your idol.)

THE BUS THEORY APPLIED TO LIFE !

I always get annoyed how buses get to put gas when we are on board ( as in can't they just do it before they get on the road ?), it's a question that upto now I fail to get an answer, sometimes I think it's because the money we pay is what they use to get fuel but again come to think of it 🤔 , how about the money they made the previous day ? Can't they use it for gas unlike inconveniencing people to drop off at a gas station each time they want to put gas?.

Lol 😂 it's easy to say certain things when you are not in their shoes . I know there are alot misconception that we have from the bus driver to the conductor there is always an argument that will arise from within the bus before we get to destination. Especially when you didn't have that mini conversation with the conductor to give you a discount before getting on a bus , eish the embarrassment lol 😂.

But , hey!!!that is a story for another day ! Today I want us to apply the bus theory in this way " We all know that even if the bus is going to a certain destination for example let's say from Chilenje to town using chilibulu road , some will drop off by the stations along the way but the bus will still be moving regardless of people dropping off and those that are going to the last bus station which is town they will remain in the bus".

What can we learn from this theory ?
Well , I have two things that should put you at easy with life and success.

We are all on the journey to success and life is the bus we all use , without it is difficult to get to our destination. Therefore,, we don't have to compare our lives to others we might be in the same life but truth is that we won't succeed at the same time ( well and good if we do ) but the probability isn't high .
Just because someone has dropped of from a particular station doesn't mean you should also drop off ( your destination is the main goal ) let not other people's success become a distraction to your main destination that you want to arrive at.

You are never too late to become great !
Aspire to discover your purpose for a clear road map to your destination so that you don't easily get distracted by other people's early achievements ( but rather celebrate with them until it's your time )

Imagine , you are heading to town and the just because your friend who is going to another destination has dropped off ? Would also drop off or continue with your journey ?.

If you were to ask me I would say , I would rather stick to my journey because that's where I'm destined to be .

I just thought of reminding you that you are not late ! The best time to start something is now while you still have time than procrastination of your plans .

You can still go back to school
You can still start that business
You can still apply for university!
