Zimbabwe named 'world's best country to visit'
Forbes said it relied on travel expert interviews to compile its report on leading tourist destinations worldwide.

November 6, 2025
Forbes has named Zimbabwe as the "world's best country to visit in 2025", a recognition that the Zimbabwean government attributes to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's leadership.

However, Forbes, an American magazine, did not mention the nation's leadership in its recent tourism report, which is updated regularly.

Zimbabwe first took the lead in August 2025.

Forbes magazine cited Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe's Eastern Highlands, and breathtaking terrains, suitable for hiking, as the Southern African nation's strongest selling points.

In a statement, the European Union termed Zimbabwe's chart-topping recognition as "well-deserved," hailing its "astonishing landscapes, rich biodiversity, and warm hospitality."

According to Forbes, Zimbabwe's capital, Harare, has witnessed a 56% surge in flight enquiries, while the country's southwestern city of Bulawayo has registered more than 80% flight searches in recent months.

AVRAM GRANT LEAVES CHIPOLOPOLO AFTER NEARLY THREE YEARS IN CHARGE

By Elias Limwanya

Zambia Men’s National Football Team Head Coach, Avram Grant, has officially announced his departure after nearly three years in charge of the Chipolopolo.

The Israeli coach confirmed the news through a post shared on his verified Instagram page on Wednesday, marking the end of his tenure with the 2012 African champions.

“After almost three years with the Zambia national team, I have decided to step down as head coach. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such talented players and passionate supporters,” Grant reportedly wrote.

A PERIOD OF REBUILDING AND RENEWED HOPE

Grant took over the Chipolopolo in December 2022, succeeding Croatian coach Aljosa Asanovic. His appointment came at a time when Zambia was struggling to reclaim its continental status following years of failed qualification campaigns.

Under his guidance, Zambia qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire — their first appearance at the tournament since 2015. Despite a promising qualification campaign, the team exited at the group stage, sparking mixed reactions from fans and analysts.

During his tenure, Grant focused on blending youth and experience, bringing in players such as Lameck Banda, Kings Kangwa, and Patson Daka as key figures in the team’s resurgence.

REACTIONS AND NEXT STEPS

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has yet to issue an official statement regarding Grant’s resignation or the process of appointing his successor. However, insiders suggest that the association may look to appoint a local coach on an interim basis as the search for a permanent replacement begins.

Football fans have expressed appreciation for Grant’s professionalism and the progress made under his leadership, while others believe his departure opens a new chapter for Zambian football.

GRANT’S LEGACY IN AFRICA
Avram Grant, 69, is no stranger to African football. Before taking the Zambia job, he led Ghana to the final of the 2015 AFCON, where the Black Stars narrowly lost to Ivory Coast on penalties.

His experience and calm leadership style were credited with stabilizing the Chipolopolo dressing room and reviving belief within the squad.

As Zambia looks ahead to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and future continental competitions, attention will now turn to who will take over the reins and continue the rebuilding process Grant began.

I CAN'T WORK WITH INDEPENDENT MPs - HH

By TOST reporter

Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema has called on members of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) to back party candidates in the upcoming general election, arguing that electing independents makes it harder to achieve sustainable development.

Speaking to UPND members in Lusaka on Sunday, Hichilema emphasized the importance of consolidating the party’s hold on local councils. He said his administration is committed to ensuring that councils currently led by opposition or independent representatives are won by UPND candidates in next year’s vote.

The president framed the push for party unity as essential for advancing the government’s development agenda, insisting that UPND-led councils would be better positioned to work with the national government.

Passenger Boarding Bridges Now Operational at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport

TOST TV reporter

Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) has officially brought its new passenger boarding bridges—often called aerobridges—into service at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (SMKIA) in Ndola.

The move comes after the Zambia Civil Aviation Authority (ZCAA) gave the green light, following a series of rigorous staff training sessions, docking trials, and safety checks carried out in recent months.

The new aerobridges are seen as a significant upgrade for SMKIA, aiming to raise both passenger comfort and the efficiency of airport operations.

ZACL says the addition fits with its broader goal of delivering airport facilities that meet international standards.

Aerobridges, now standard at major airports worldwide, make boarding and disembarking safer, faster, and more comfortable. These upgrades are being made with an eye on continued passenger growth over the coming years.

The expanded SMKIA facilities now include a bay designed for wide-body aircraft—including models like the Boeing 777-300, 787, 767, and Airbus A350/A340—as well as two bays for narrow-body planes such as the Boeing 737-900, Airbus A319/A320, and the Embraer E170, E190, and E195.

Speaking at the launch, ZACL Managing Director Urvesh Desai called the commissioning of the aerobridges “another proud moment for Zambia’s aviation sector,” and emphasized ZACL’s ongoing focus on passenger comfort, operational excellence, and airline efficiency as part of Zambia’s broader national development agenda.

ZCAA Director General Captain Derrick Luembe, also at the event, congratulated ZACL and all partners involved in making the project a reality, calling the launch an important milestone in Zambia’s efforts to modernize its aviation sector.
