Willar Joseph Mudolo a PF aspiring Presidential candidate has laid out a bold vision for Zambia’s future, with economic resilience standing as the second pillar of his transformative agenda once elected President. His vision is rooted in the belief that Zambia can no longer afford to be vulnerable to external shocks, but must instead build an economy that is self-reliant, diversified, and inclusive.
For far too long, Zambia has been overly dependent on copper exports, leaving the nation at the mercy of volatile global markets. Under Mudolo’s leadership, Zambia will expand beyond copper by promoting agriculture, tourism, and renewable energy. With over 40% of arable land still unused, Mudolo envisions a Zambia that feeds not only itself but also the region, while creating thousands of jobs in agro-processing.
Mudolo’s vision focuses on keeping wealth within Zambia. Instead of exporting raw materials, his plan emphasizes value addition turning copper into finished products like cables, processing cotton into textiles, and transforming maize into packaged goods for export.
This approach will generate employment, boost local industries, and strengthen Zambia’s position on the global market.
Economic resilience under Mudolo means empowering ordinary citizens. He pledges to expand access to digital banking, microfinance, and entrepreneurship loans, especially targeting women and youth. Just as mobile money has transformed economies in East Africa, Zambia too can unleash innovation and growth when every citizen has access to financial tools.
Mudolo who himself is a development expert understands that no nation can develop without strong infrastructure. His economic blueprint prioritizes roads, railways, and energy expansion. With abundant sunshine and water resources, Zambia has the potential to lead Africa in renewable energy. Investing in hydropower and solar energy will not only cut costs for businesses but also create a competitive industrial base.
At the heart of Mudolo’s vision lies human capital development. By strengthening education, vocational training, and ICT skills, his government will prepare young Zambians for the jobs of the future. He believes that a skilled, innovative, and adaptable workforce is Zambia’s greatest asset for achieving true resilience.
He pledges a government anchored in accountability, transparency, and economic discipline. Investors thrive where policies are predictable and corruption is tackled. His leadership will guarantee that Zambia becomes a hub of stability and growth, restoring investor confidence while ensuring that citizens benefit from national wealth.
Mudolo recognizes the challenges Zambia faces such as youth unemployment, climate change, and a heavy debt burden. Yet he sees these as opportunities.
He add that unemployment will be met with entrepreneurship and startup incubation.
Climate change will push investment in climate-smart farming and green industries.
“Economic resilience is not just a policy for Mudolo but a promise to the Zambian people. A promise that the nation will not be left at the mercy of global fluctuations, but will instead chart its own course to prosperity. With enhanced economic tentacles, Zambia can transform from dependency to independence, from vulnerability to resilience, and from potential to lasting prosperity.
Mudolo’s vision is clear, a resilient economy is the foundation of a stronger Zambia, where every citizen shares in the nation’s progress
