A NIGHT BEFORE MY WEDDING: CHAPTER 6

I tore apart the entire bedroom, scattering everything in that damn room. Nothing made sense to me that night.

It was around 23:30 hrs. I couldn’t hold my emotions any longer, waiting for that son of a b***h to return. Desperation consumed me, so I went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife.

The only thought echoing in my mind was to end my own life. At that point, I didn’t even care that I was pregnant with his child.

Just as I was about to go through with it, he walked in.

"Chipo, what the heck is going on here? Why are you here? When did you come in? Who sent you?" he asked, his voice filled with confusion.

I cut him off.

"Shut up, Nono! You good-for-nothing man! Is this what you do?" I yelled, gripping the sharp knife. "Is this what you’ve been doing behind my back? After I gave myself to you? After I trusted you? I let my husband-to-be go just to be with you, and this is how you repay me?"

"I never asked you to leave your husband. You did that on your own," he replied coldly.

"Shut up, Nono! I'm pregnant with your child!"

He scoffed. "Who even knows if that bastard is mine?"

Rage burned inside me. "Don’t you ever call my child a bastard! After everything, after you kept forcing yourself into my life, you dare say that?"

"Oh, please!" he sneered. "How do I even know the baby is mine when you slept with both of us on the same day?"

My voice dropped in shock. "I gave you everything. Every part of me. And this is how you repay me?" Tears welled in my eyes. "You slept with another woman right in front of me?"

"What? I didn’t even know you were here! You didn’t tell me you were coming. This is what happens when you show up unannounced," he snapped. "Where were you hiding, anyway?"

"Under the bed," I muttered.

"What the hell? You hid under the bed?" he asked, shaking his head.

"So, you’re getting married?" I whispered.

"Yes, I just got engaged," he said without hesitation.

A wave of emptiness filled my chest. "Then

A NIGHT BEFORE MY WEDDING
PART 1

Come on, just for the last time, and make it sweet, tender, and soft.

This wasn't an easy choice to make, as many of you will blame me for making this decision.

It all began when I was dating this guy, Norman, but I used to call him Nono - it was his favorite nickname. We met at my late sister's Chilanga mulilo. I recall how people often look their best at chilanga mulilo, so I made an effort to look beautiful too.

Nono was coming from Kabwata, and he couldn't take his eyes off me as I danced. To be honest, I was equally captivated by him - he looked incredibly handsome that day. So, I deliberately moved next to him, and as a gentleman, he stood up and asked for my number. I didn't hesitate; I gave it to him.

Fast forward, guys - if you remember being in love to the point where you feel an intense connection of waiting for your friend to (pupu) in the same toilet without feeling ashamed. we reached that point! He took me to cinemas, comedy shows, and Victoria Falls. Nikuti kwe sitinayende ise (you know what I mean). We shared intimate moments in his bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and even by the window.

Until that fateful day when he called me and said he needed to leave Lusaka and work from Kabwe. I refused, but he insisted, so I blocked him for two weeks from all my social media and phone. I think I was a bit insecure.

Two weeks later, I tried to call him, but his phone was off. Unfortunately, I didn't have his sister's number, and his friend had shifted from the place I knew him.

Fast forward, I stayed single for seven months without him. I almost thought he had died or something had happened to him, until I met this gentle man at my late sister's funeral. This guy was SDA, and oh guys, he could sing! He sang all night long at my sister's funeral, who died in a road traffic accident.

After two beautiful songs, he came and sat next to me, comforting me, and got my number. Fast forward, I found myself with him in his church the next Sabbath. Oh guys, I joined his church and immediately became a Sabata mubotu (a regular churchgoer).

This guy could sing like no man's business, so I thought to myself, "I think my house won't be boring because he will be singing for me every single day." Three months down the line, we had our kitchen party, and the following week was our wedding.

You know how the devil works - eight hours before my wedding, that's when things got messed up. I was busy with my friends in Mr. Price, choosing the best shoes for my husband, when I saw Nonno standing in front of me. At first, I couldn't believe my eyes. I blinked, and he was still standing there.

"We need to talk," he said.

"Talk about what?" I replied.

He quickly grabbed my hand, moved me away from my friends, and it was dramatic. Though I couldn't say much, because I wanted to hear him out and find out where he had been for the past year.

So, I called one of my best friends, telling him I had an emergency, and he drove to a nearby lodge. Nono tried to kiss me, but I stopped him, saying,

"Hold on, you know it's almost my wedding day."

"I know that's why I came," he replied.

From his response, I got confused, but I continued asking him,

"Where have you been?"

"The two weeks you blocked me, I was recruited into the army as an officer. I was there for a year, and I just had my pass-out three days ago. Then I heard about your wedding from my friend, and I came rushing to stop it," he said.

"Did you just stop it?"

I asked. "After you left for over a year, you must be joking," I said.

"How long have you known this guy?" he asked. "Three to four months now," I replied.

"You must be joking yourself - how on earth would you marry a person you've known for three months?" he said.

At this point, I didn't know if he was right or not, so I kept quiet.

"How can you throw away all our memories for a guy, a man you barely know?" he said. "I still love you," he added. "Sorry, I'm already taken now," I replied.

He came close to me, touched me the way he used to, and whispered, the first sentence of this story. "Please, I don't want to cheat on my husband." I replied,

"As if you already made the vows, did you?" he said

ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY SISTER'S HUSBAND. part .1

Come on, babe, do it! Harder! Harder!! Yes! Yes!! I exclaimed with unbridled joy.

Oh, sorry, let me recount how it all began and how I ended up in bed with my sister's husband.

I had just completed my teaching course from Kasama College of Education and arrived in Lusaka for Christmas holiday. After a grueling journey, I dropped off from Intercity Lusaka Bus Station at around 19hrs. It was a long and arduous trip - nama bus yamu Zambia - so my phone's battery was almost running on fumes, down to 2%. I hastily booked a Yango.

Fortunately, before my phone could die, the Yango driver was already loading my bags into his Honda Fit. Fast forward, he drove down to Chilanga. "Madam, this is it, diye apa pa mundawanga" he said. I got utterly confused because the last time I communicated with my sister, she instructed me to book a Yango and then drop off at Mundawanga, Chilanga, and then she would come and pick me up with her husband.

I checked my phone; it was dead. I tried to switch it on, but it wouldn't budge. So, I was in a state of panic. The driver asked, "Madam, nichani? I replied, "This is my first time in Lusaka, and my phone went off; it can't go on, and I have not mastered my sister's number."

He got concerned and asked if I had any money on me to book a lodge. Honestly, I only had K55. I replied. So, he generously offered to lend some money for lodging, then I could pay him back the following day after finding my sister.

Time check: 21:45hrs.
Most lodges were fully booked because the biggest artist in Zambia, Yo Maps, was performing in the nearby bar, so we kept moving from one lodge to another.

The gas in the taxi ran out, so the driver asked me to walk to a nearby filling station to get gas.
Time check: 23:54hrs.
We strolled along a very beautiful street, and I became curious to know the stranger's full name and more about him, just in case anything happened to me along the way. To my surprise, he didn't hide his ID; he even went further to explain how people get excited to see Yo Maps in the area.

We got along swimmingly in our conversation, and it was an extremely joyful moment for a complete stranger to help me without demanding anything in return.

Time check: 00:30hrs.
People were ecstatic, popping fireworks, and it was all colorful - "Pali birthday yaba jize!" We bought fuel and were back on the road, searching for a lodge.

We found one going for K550; unfortunately, the money he was supposed to pay for my lodge was used to buy fuel. Fast forward, this gentleman graciously offered me a free bed space at his house because he was also about to call it a night.

Time check: 01:38hrs.
His house was immaculate; everything was on point, as if there was a lady in the house. Fortunately, it was only me and him.

He offered me delicious food and drinks, and some beer. We savored the food, drank, and had a wonderful time.

Time check: 02:20hrs.
I went to take a refreshing cold shower; when I came back, I found him lying on the couch, so I assisted him to come over to my guest bed. Time check: 02:30hrs. That's when things got intense... I was busy screaming the first sentence on top of this story.

Look out for my part 2!

YOU WILL ALWAYS BE CHEATED IF YOU NEGOTIATE FROM A WEAK POSITION

The main actor of "The Gods Must Be Crazy", N!xau Toma, was only paid $300, even though the film produced in 1980 made over $60 million. He died a poor wretched bushman despite making millions of dollars for other people. He was hugely exploited at the negoting table. In fact, he was merely told what was negotiated and he accepted with happiness. Africans have always been exploited.

The film is basically about the conflict between the new order and the old epoch: The Namibian tribal people in a remote African desert live a happy life, but it is all torn to pieces when a Coca-Cola bottle falls from a plane. The confusion and myth surrounding the strange object disorganized the bushmen as they made efforts to unravel the mystery object.

He died on 5th July 2003 after a bout with tuberculosis at the age of 59. He died a poor man because he was not only exploited but he lacked the necessary skills to even realised that he was exploited. He equally lacked the skills to manage well the little money he was paid for his appearances in various films because he did not know the value of paper money.

He had no formal education and came from a culture that did not value the material things that money could buy and consequently had not learned money management skills. After his film career ended in 2000, he returned to his village to build modern brick house with pipe borne water. He bought heads of cattle but not more than 20 because he simply could not count further than 20.

Yes he died poor after playing the lead role in a film that earned more than $60 million in revenue. Where else does it happen if not in Africa?

THE SIX BABY SISTERS WHO LIVED UNDER THE BRIDGE

FEB 19th 2016,17:20HRS,stuck in traffic as I was coming from Chisamba,I decided to use a lesser congested road(the road that comes from Matebeto and goes underneath Great East road's bridge near ZESCO)..I was so much taken by the Song I love the most “GOD IS FAITHFUL “by Mercy Chinwo(Nigerian singer),then I heard a tender knock on my passenger's window, it was a Beautiful young girl dressed in rags and seemed like she had not showered in a very long time...I wound down the window, the smell wasn't pleasant..then this young girl asked for something to eat and not money as many other street kids do..she said "please uncle, nipepa ko vakudya nabafana baanga" (am asking for food so that I share with my baby sisters) as she pointed where some young girls sat..I honestly told her that I didn't v any food, but it was at that point that I saw her eyes become teary. My heart thumped, and I immediately parked so that I could see her other sisters n hear their story.. The sight of her baby sisters made me sob like a baby..they looked like they had not eaten for weeks...The older sister told me that they had not eaten for the past 5 days apart from one bun some lady gave them before I got there which they had just shared...she told me how a month ago then, realizing that they would die from hunger, she got her sisters and said alittle prayer, asking God to at least get them to Lusaka where they would find a place where they would get some food.Just after the prayer, this strong willed and brave girl and her sisters headed for the train station in anticipation of a free ride to Lusaka..Surely,they got onto a train bound for Lusaka from Ndola seeking for food and shelter.. The train Masters helped them way through to Lusaka,These kids had just been thrown out by their Aunt who felt it was much of a burden to take in all 6 just Orphaned kids as she told them that the older one
