KAFUE WEST NEEDS A “CHECKER,” NOT ANOTHER POLITICIAN
May 13 , 2026
Aspiring Kafue West Member of Parliament, Mulemwa Collins Njekwa, says the constituency does not need more political promises, but a leader who understands how public money works and how to stop it from disappearing before it reaches the people.
With over 35 years of experience in public finance, donor-funded programmes, and government systems, Njekwa believes his background makes him uniquely positioned to transform service delivery in Kafue West.
A Fellow of the Association of Accounting Technicians UK and an ACCA holder, Njekwa has worked with institutions such as UNICEF, the World Bank, Global Fund, the Ministry of Health, and United Nations missions abroad.
He says his experience managing donor funds, supervising IFMIS payments, and responding to audit queries has prepared him to safeguard Constituency Development Fund resources and ensure projects benefit ordinary residents.
Njekwa argues that many communities in Magoba, Chikupi, Mungu, Kabweza and surrounding areas continue to suffer despite millions allocated toward development.
According to him, weak monitoring and poor accountability have allowed projects to exist only on paper while residents still struggle with water shortages, poor roads, and limited access to services.
If elected, he plans to establish a CDF Help Desk to assist women and youths with grant applications, introduce quarterly public audit meetings, and create a delivery unit to physically verify projects using GPS monitoring.
He has also pledged to push for feeder road upgrades, improved borehole access, and faster Social Cash Transfer implementation.
For Njekwa, leadership is about accountability. He says every kwacha must be accounted for and accounted to the people of Kafue West.
