Zambia’s Miracle Chipito has booked her place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 IMMAF World Championships without stepping into the cage, after receiving a bye in the eighth-finals.

The rising star now awaits the winner of the bout between Alma Natalia Diaz Ald. of Mexico and Fiza Nazir of India, which will determine her next opponent in the quarterfinal stage.

In tournament formats, a bye occurs when a fighter automatically progresses to the next round due to an uneven number of competitors. This ensures fair progression and balance in the bracket, giving Chipito a direct pathway into the quarterfinals.

The advancement provides Chipito with extra preparation time, as she gears up for what promises to be a highly competitive quarterfinal clash. With Team Zambia showing strong representation at the championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, all eyes will be on Miracle to continue her journey toward the medals.

🇿🇲ZAMBIA’S 4X400M MEN’S RELAY TEAM DISQUALIFIED AT WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Zambia’s men’s 4x400m relay team has been disqualified from the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo after officials confirmed a violation during their baton exchange. Following a detailed review, the team was ruled to have breached Technical Rule TR24.21, which prohibits jostling or obstruction of another athlete during the handover.

The disqualification came as a major disappointment for the Zambian squad, who had shown determination in their heat and were looking to advance further in the competition. The baton change—often a decisive moment in relay races—proved costly, as even minor infractions are strictly penalized at the elite level.

🇿🇲ZAMBIA U21 NETBALL TEAM UNVEILS NEW WORLD CUP KIT🌍🏆

Netball Zambia has unveiled a new kit for the Under-21 national team ahead of the 2025 Netball World Cup in Gibraltar.

The Xco-manufactured gear includes green home, orange away, and black alternate jerseys, along with full training attire. At the launch in Lusaka, Netball Zambia President Martha Sichone thanked government and corporate partners for their support, while Sports Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe urged the players to shine on the global stage.

Zambia opens their campaign against defending champions New Zealand on Saturday, 20 September. The tournament runs until 28 September.
