Things you should never do as an uprising Artistš
1. Donāt copy big artists; be yourself.
Itās okay to be inspired by Burna Boy, Rema or Ayra Starr, but donāt try to sound exactly like them. People already have the original; they are looking for you.
Your voice, your story, your style.
2. Be original; thatās what makes you stand out.
Music is like cooking food. If everyone cooks the same jollof, nobody will crave yours. Add your own spice; your flow, slang, or sound. Thatās how fans remember you.
3. Never argue with your producer; learn from them. (Very important!)
Producers arenāt just ābeat makersā; they understand sound, mixing, and what makes a song hit. Instead of arguing, ask questions, take feedback, and grow.
If you show yourself, I simply ignore youš
Remember, a humble artist learns faster.
4. Donāt rush to drop songs without a plan.
Donāt rush to release songs without building a promo strategy first, else you will end up begging for streams without any results.
5. Donāt spend all your money on drip.
Yes, it feels good to look fresh, but donāt go broke trying to impress. Invest in your music; good producer, good mixing, visuals, and promotion.
6. Donāt ignore feedback.
When people give honest opinions about your song, listen. You donāt have to agree with everyone, but use feedback to improve your sound.
7. Donāt chase fame before quality.
A viral song can make you popular, but a good song keeps you relevant. Focus on making solid music first; fame will come naturally.
8. Treat everyone with respect; DJs, producers, sound engineers, even small event organizers. The same people you ignore today might open doors for you tomorrow.
