FUEL PRICE MAINTAINED
As ERB Cites Stable Market Conditions

Lusaka – Zambian consumers will see no change in fuel pump prices for March 2025, the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) announced Friday. This decision comes amidst fluctuating global oil markets, with the ERB citing that those fluctuations remained within acceptable trigger band thresholds.

According to a statement released by ERB Board Chairperson James Banda, the board’s analysis of international oil prices and the Kwacha’s performance indicated that while minor variations occurred, they did not warrant a domestic price adjustment.

“Since the last fuel price review on 31st January 2025, the international price of petrol marginally increased by 1.93 percent, from US$80.80/bbl to US$82.36/bbl, whereas diesel slightly declined by 2.23 percent, from US$91.62/bbl to US$89.58/bbl. Additionally, the price of kerosene on the international market increased by 0.22 percent, from US$89.61/bbl to US$89.81/bbl.” 1 Said the ERB board chairperson.

Therefore the current prices will remain as they are.Petrol: K34.98 p er litre, Diesel: K32.54 per litre, Kerosene: K29.56 per litre, Jet A-1: K32.51 per litre. The ERB's decision to maintain prices provides a degree of stability for consumers and businesses, mitigating potential inflationary pressures. The board reiterated its commitment to closely monitoring global and local market conditions to ensure fair and transparent fuel pricing.

PATSON DAKA'S TRANSFER FRUSTRATES LEICESTER CITY MANAGER

Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is reportedly frustrated by Patson Daka's imminent departure to Luton Town. Daka's move comes after a period of limited playing time at Leicester, leading the Zambian striker to express feelings of betrayal by both the club and its supporters.

He alleges that he suffered from poor treatment and a lack of opportunities to showcase his talent. Despite initial promise, Daka struggled to secure a consistent starting position, often finding himself on the bench or excluded from match day squads. This lack of game time reportedly fueled his desire to seek opportunities elsewhere.

The transfer to Luton Town is expected to be finalized later today, with Daka undergoing a medical this afternoon. The proposed contract is a three-year deal, offering Daka the chance to revitalize his career in the Championship. While the financial details of the transfer remain undisclosed, the move represents a significant acquisition for Luton as they aim to strengthen their squad.

Van Nistelrooy's frustration likely stems from the loss of a player he may have hoped to integrate into his plans, even if Daka's appearances were limited. The manager now faces the challenge of adjusting his squad and potentially seeking alternative attacking options. Daka's departure also raises questions about Leicester's player management and their ability to retain talent amidst competition for playing time.
