Nyimba man kills girlfriend's 2 children after she pulled his manhood during fight
A NYIMBA man aged 26 has currently gone into hiding after killing his girlfriends two toddlers following a domestic violence incident in Samora 2 Compound.
According to authorities, the incident, which occurred around midnight this morning, claimed the lives of 3-year-old Samuel Phiri and 9-month-old Innocent Tembo.
Eastern Province Police commanding officer Robertson Mweemba identified the suspect as Winston Lungu, of Samora 2 Compound, who is currently on the run.
Confirming the report, Mweemba narrated that the victims' mother, 23 year old Mary Phiri, who is a caretaker at the resident where crime happened, was sleeping with her two children when her boyfriend, Lungu, arrived at the house heavily intoxicated and demanding to enter.
Fearing his history of violent behaviour when drunk, Phiri delayed opening the door, prompting the suspect to break a window.
Fearing further damage to the property, she eventually let him in, leading to a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight.
During the scuffle, Lungu allegedly began squeezing Phiri's neck.
In self-defense, she pulled his private parts, managed to break free, and fled to a neighbour's house to seek refuge.
Lungu allegedly remained inside the house with the two helpless toddlers and proceeded to strangle them.
"A neighbour who responded found the suspect strangling the second one. Upon being seen, the suspect fled the scene," Mweemba said.
"Police officers were called, rushed to the scene and found two children lying on the floor lifeless with blood coming out from their mouths, while the mother sustained injuries including bruises on the neck and the whole body."
Mweemba said Phiri was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment and the bodies of the two toddlers have since been deposited in the Nyimba District Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem examinations.
