IG MUSAMBA INSPECTS ELECTION SECURITY READINESS IN KANYAMA

The Inspector General of Police Mr. Graphel Musamba today inspected officers deployed in Kanyama Compound as part of the Zambia Police Service's operational readiness assessments ahead of the General Elections on 13 August 2026.
The visit is part of a countrywide exercise to evaluate the preparedness, discipline, and operational effectiveness of officers deployed across the country to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
Addressing the officers, Mr. Musamba commended them for their commitment and emphasized the critical role the Zambia Police Service will play in maintaining law and order before, during, and after the elections.
He urged the officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, impartiality, and discipline in carrying out their duties.
The Police Chief reaffirmed the Service's commitment to safeguarding peace and security throughout the electoral period, stating that the Zambia Police Service has fully activated its Electoral Security Plan to effectively respond to any threats to the electoral process.
Mr. Musamba further reminded the officers that theservicee maintains a zero-tolerance stance on political violence, intimidation, hate speech, and public disorder.
He directed officers to enforce the law fairly and firmly, without fear or favour, while respecting the rights of all citizens.
The Inspector General also assured the officers of full command support, noting that the Police Command remains committed to providing the necessary operational guidance, supervision, and logistical support during the election period.
He encouraged the officers to remain vigilant, responsive, and professional at all times, adding that public confidence in the Zambia Police Service depends largely on the conduct of officers on the ground.
The Inspector General was accompanied by Lusaka Province Commanding Officer Commissioner of Police Mr. Ronald Zambo and other senior officers from Police Headquarters and Lusaka Division.
The inspection of Kanyama Operational Zone forms part of a broader nationwide assessment intended to strengthen security arrangements and boost public confidence ahead of the August 2026 General Elections.
