AMOS CHANDA DEFENDS HIMSELF AGAINST PF ATTACKS
..it's my view, anyone out of 20 million can give theirs...

By Jubilee Malambo.

A faction of the Patriotic Front (PF) party has issued a strongly-worded statement in response to comments made by Amos Chanda on Diamond TV that he thinks HH will won next year's elections.

During the interview, Chanda was asked about the 2026 presidential election chances, and he projected a possible win for incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema.

The PF statement, issued by the party's Media Directorate, accused Chanda of insulting Zambians by exercising his freedom of expression.

However, Chanda has pushed back, arguing that the PF's reasoning is illiberal and undesirable in a democratic society.

"I will ignore the rest of the personally disagreeable and demeaning language in the article," Chanda said, "but state that nowhere in the TV interview did I say my single view would represent the views of 20 million Zambians."

Chanda also took issue with the PF's claim that projects initiated during their tenure must be preserved exclusively as their legacy.

He argued that government is a continuous entity, and projects belong to the people, not individual political parties.

"To suggest that projects conceived during their tenure must wait upon their second coming is not just delusional but a stark verdict of their failure at understanding the very idea of government," Chanda added.

The statement has sparked a heated debate about freedom of expression, governance, and the role of political parties in Zambia.

Chanda's remarks have also raised questions about the PF's understanding of democratic principles and their ability to engage in constructive political discourse.

As the 2026 elections approach, it remains to be seen how the PF will respond to criticism and whether they will adopt a more inclusive and democratic approach to politics.
