I’m walking along this old rail line, the path swallowed by bushes and silence. It’s the kind of quiet that makes you hear your own thoughts a little too loudly. Up ahead, there’s a man walking alone.

At first, I don’t think much of it… until he suddenly turns and looks back at me.

He hesitates.

Then he stops.

Now it’s just the two of us, standing on this lonely stretch of track. My mind starts racing. Do I keep going? Do I turn back? Something about the way he’s standing there makes me sure… he’s waiting for me.

I swallow hard and decide to keep moving.
Step by step, I close the distance between us, my heart thudding louder with each one. When I finally reach him, he lifts a hand slightly, stopping me.
He looks at me and says, “Something in me told me to stop.”

For a moment, I don’t know what to expect next.
But what happened after that… was something I never saw coming... and it turned out to be one of the most heartwarming moments I’ve ever experienced.
