Rising Killings in Lusaka
In recent months, Lusaka has witnessed a disturbing rise in killings, leaving families and communities in fear and grief. Areas such as Bauleni, Chilenje, and other townships have become hotspots for violent attacks, with citizens being found dead under mysterious and brutal circumstances.
Much of this violence is linked to gang-related activities and junkies, who roam neighborhoods armed with weapons, targeting innocent residents. The killings not only rob families of their loved ones but also threaten the spirit of peace and unity that Zambia has always stood for.
Community leaders and residents have repeatedly raised alarm, urging authorities to strengthen security measures and restore order. There is also a growing call for parents, churches, and civic organizations to step in and help address the root causes — including drug abuse, unemployment, and lack of youth engagement.
Zambia, known as a beacon of peace in Africa, cannot allow this wave of violence to define its people. The nation must unite in saying: No More Killing. We cry for peace, love, and unity.
