MWEEMBA SALUTES U20 GIRLS ON BEING CROWNED COSAFA CHAMPIONS
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) wishes to congratulate the Zambia Under-20 Women National Team on being crowned back-to-back Cosafa champions.
FAZ president Keith Mweemba says the victory is even sweeter coming on the backdrop of the Copper Queens qualifying to the quarterfinals of the on-going TotalEnergies Women Africa Cup of Nations.
“On behalf of my executive and the entire football family, I wish to congratulate our Under-20 Women National Team for being crowned Cosafa champions,” says Mweemba.
“No doubt the future of our women’s game is bright and we will continue to invest in the youth structures to sustain the success we are experiencing.”
The FAZ chief also congratulated the under-17 Boys’ National Team that competed in the U-20 tournament on winning bronze.
“On the other hand, we salute our U-17 boys who were at the U-20 Cosafa as part of our wider plan to prepare for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Winning would have been great but we were more focused on preparing the team for the FIFA World Cup that will take place from November 3-27 in Qatar,” he says.
Mweemba has thanked Zambians for the support rendered to the Copper Queens so far in their quest to conquer Africa.
“We are grateful to the fans, media, government and many other stakeholders for having rallied behind the Copper Queens that have already qualified to the quarterfinals of the WAFCON. The ultimate target is to make history by winning the trophy but we have to take it step-by-step,” he says.
