Dolph Lundgren, best known as an actor and martial artist, has a strong background in Kyokushin Karate.

He began training in Kyokushin as a teenager in Sweden.

He earned his 2nd Dan black belt under Kyokushin master Brian Fitkin.

In the early 1980s, he became the Swedish Kyokushin champion and represented Sweden in the World Open Tournament in Tokyo.

Lundgren later moved to the U.S., where he continued promoting Kyokushin philosophy through films and demonstrations.

Despite his Hollywood fame, he remains a lifelong advocate of discipline, respect, and strength through Kyokushin.

Masutatsu Oyama considered Gichin Funakoshi his "true karate teacher". Oyama trained under Funakoshi for about two years while attending Takushoku University in Tokyo. However, Oyama also trained under other masters like Nei-Chu So in Goju-ryu karate, which significantly influenced his development of Kyokushin karate .

So while Funakoshi was a significant influence and someone Oyama regarded highly, he wasn't Oyama's only teacher/master. Oyama's martial arts journey involved training under multiple instructors.
