OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE TEACHER

I have been wrongly detained and I demand to be released immediately. I want the general public to know that what happened was not on purpose and purely and accident.

I am calling up on all women to stand with me in this trying moment. All I wanted was to teach my boy mathematics which has been a problem to him and then by accident he entered me.

I’m a teacher with principles for over 10 years now and so it’s shocking that most people especially fellow ladies have rushed to judge me instead of supporting a fellow woman.

Once again I want to inform the world that what happened between me and the young boy in the bedroom was purely an accident during the time I was tutoring him in mathematics.

I also thanks all the women who has supported me in this trying moment.

Teacher Cindy.

KHADIJA APPEARS IN COURT

Khadija Mingel, a 36-year-old businesswoman from Kitwe, has appeared at the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court where her trial for alleged drug trafficking has commenced.

Mingel was arrested six months ago by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) after being found in possession of 25 pellets of co***ne weighing 500 grammes. At the time, the DEC stated that Mingel had been on the commission’s watch list for some time and was believed to be a notorious drug supplier operating in the North-Western and Copperbelt provinces.

According to the DEC, the drugs were discovered in a Toyota Mark X vehicle that Mingel was driving at the time of her arrest.

The case, which was initially before the Kitwe courts, has since been transferred to the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court, where trial proceedings have begun.

On arrival at court, the accused was seen covering her head with a black cloth and was accompanied by her lawyers under tight security.

A suspected gold discovery near Kantolomba Cemetery in Ndola has triggered a gold rush, attracting over 1,000 people who have begun digging in the area despite warnings from authorities.

Residents including men, women and youths from Ndola, Kitwe, Mufumbwe and surrounding areas have set up makeshift mining spots about 25 metres from the cemetery, insisting they are not digging on actual graves.

Some of the miners claim they turned to prospecting to escape unemployment, arguing that they have only targeted what they believe to be “gold-rich soil” near the burial site and have not disturbed any graves.

However, questions remain on whether the material being extracted is genuinely gold.

Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo has confirmed receiving reports on the matter and says a government team will be dispatched to verify the claims. He emphasised that illegal mining will not be tolerated, regardless of the outcome of the investigation.

QUICK FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW

ZAMBIA TRAFFIC POLICE Vs: YOURSELF and THINGS TO REMEMBER.

1. No traffic officer is allowed to get and keep your license. The officer is only allowed to get your details off it. Further, you should prefer to get a ticket and pay at the police office than at the checkpoint.

2. If you do not have your license on you, no police officer is allowed to charge you on the spot. You should be given time to produce it

3. When you are stopped for speeding, there is an allowance of up to 8kms above the speed limit. You should not be charged for over speeding. In other words, if the maximum speed limit reads 35 km/h, you can only be stopped and ticketed if you were driving beyond (8+35=42) 42km/h

4. You are within your rights to ask for the calibration certificate of the radar gun used to capture your speed.

5. You are within your rights to ask for a police officer's man number, WHICH should be worn on the uniform.

6. If you feel a checkpoint has illegally been mounted, drive to the nearest police station and handle your issues from there.

7. THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUMP IN YOUR CAR

Followers grill Kalaba for opposing Hichilema's Tanzania trip

FORMER Foreign Affairs minister and Citizens First president Harry Kalaba has been roasted by his followers for condemning President Hakainde Hichilema’s trip to Tanzania to attend that country’s inauguration ceremony.

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu was declared winner of last week’s election on Saturday with 97.66 percent of the vote amid public protests and reports of violence.

Most opposition leaders, including Kalaba opposed President Hichilema’s attendance because of the controversial manner in which the elections were held.

The former Foreign Affairs minister wrote on his page yesterday: “SADC declares the Tanzania elections a sham! Ba President why embarrass us like this?”

The comment section which attracted over 3,600 comments came under fire, shaming Kalaba’s thinking.

Thousands of the comments highlighted the strategic importance of maintaining good relations with Tanzania for trade and regional security

“This so called aspiring president is not a businessman. Tanzania has Dar port and all the items including his car came through there but busy criticizing wrongly.,” wrote a follower, Winter Simumba.

“I think he did the right thing Sir. Zambia can not become enemies with Tanzania because of one person. She is now president of that country and HH has no choice but to embrace her for the best interest of the citizens he is presiding over,” wrote another follower.

“The relationship is between Zambia and TZ and not presidents. Whom ever rules Tanzania needs to be embraced at all costs even if it was the opposition that won,” said Chiny Akila.

Others advised the aspiring presidential candidate to understand times and seasons and refrain from criticising “anything” for political mileage.

LUBUSHA DIVERTED FEEDER ROAD CONTRACT PAYMENTS TO BUY 10 LATEST ANDRICH BUSES

Chipangali PF MP Andrew Lubusha diverted payments of a number of feeder road contracts awarded to him by fired Local Government Minister Garry Nkombo, and purchased 10 latest buses for his transport business Andrich.

Lubusha has a history of plundering money for contracts even in PF. Immediately UPND came into power, DEC arrested him but decided to forgive him after he started praising HH.

However, Garry Nkombo was fired by President Hakainde Hichilema specifically over the criminality surrounding awarding Lubusha feeder road contracts and paying him money even without doing any works.

Sources at State House have told The Candidates that President Hichilema is not happy about the issue and has instructed that Lubusha pays back and be arrested.

However, Lubusha has begged and has come up with a repayment plan to refund all the money he collected. He has also assured Levy Ngoma that he will help dismantle the opposition in Eastern Province ahead of 2026 general elections.

Recall that immediately after 2021 elections, Andrew Lubusha was arrested by DEC and had his vehicles and mansions seized. Even his phones were grabbed from him. He ran to Munir Zulu to ask him to hide him in his house. However , Lubusha hastily negotiated with Garry Nkombo and transitioned and started aligning himself with the ruling party. This is when Nkombo even started awarding contracts to Lubusha. It is Nkombo who helped Andrew Lubusha avoid court and prison, at least for now.

Let both Andrew and Garry dispute this issue.
