Position: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Chingola
Industry: Mining & Construction
Our client in the mining and construction sector is looking for a qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer to oversee earthmoving equipment maintenance, improve reliability, and support workshop and site operations.
Key Responsibilities
▪️Plan, supervise, and improve maintenance systems for heavy earthmoving equipment
▪️Diagnose and support complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
▪️Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and procedures
▪️Supervise mechanics and foremen and provide technical guidance
▪️Monitor equipment performance, breakdown trends, and maintenance costs
▪️Ensure compliance with safety, HSE, and engineering standards
▪️Prepare maintenance reports, plans, and technical documentation
▪️Support equipment overhauls, commissioning, and inspections
Requirements
▪️Degree in Mechanical Engineering
▪️Registered with EIZ (Engineering Institution of Zambia) or eligible for registration
▪️Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment environment
▪️Strong knowledge of heavy earthmoving equipment (excavators, dump trucks, loaders, etc.)
▪️Experience managing workshops, maintenance systems, and technical teams
▪️Good leadership, planning, and analytical skills
▪️Strong reporting and communication skills
