Be grounded in the word of God!

Ephesians 4:14 (KJV):

“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”

Being unstable spiritually means you believe every teaching, idea and religious message you hear. It also means you are confused and you are constantly changing what you believe.

Grow and mature and not remain a child spiritually, discern using the lens of scripture because some teachings may be presented in ways that mislead people.

1 John 4:1 says, “Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.”

Today you can access information, teachings and sermons everywhere on YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, instagram, TV etc Don’t believe everything you hear. Know God’s Word, test teachings against Scripture, and become mature and firmly established in Christ.

God bless you.

Take a step of faith today!

Do you have a dream? Do you have a vision or purpose that you wish to accomplish and feel like everything is against you fulfilling it?
For example, you don’t have money or capital for the business ideas you have, you not educated or skilled enough for the job you wish for, feel like all your mates are ahead of you and feel like time of your success has passed.

Here are some faith quotes I came across to encourage you;

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

“Faith does not mean trusting God to stop the storm, but trusting Him to be with you through the storm.”

“Faith makes things possible, not easy.”

“Where there is faith, there is hope; where there is hope, there is strength.”

“Faith is believing that God is working, even when you cannot see what He is doing.”

“Faith is not the absence of fear; it is trusting God in the presence of fear.”

Let’s add the famous Chinese proverb.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” — Lao Tzu

And a journey of faith starts with trusting God for the first step.

Take a step of faith today!
For your dream owning a big restaurant, buy small pots and start cooking and sell, bake some scones, start with a buying a stove, for the big international business you wish, start by ordering in Kamwala, Salaula and carousel mall, for the career, start by going back to school you are not late and you are not in competition with anyone.

even the biggest goals and achievements begin with one small action.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

Regardless of the circumstances, this is the day that the lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Lord renew my strength, strengthen my faith to hope again and walk in your grace!

We trust you with what we cannot control, in Jesus name.

“ In sickness and in health “

Life is full of issues and problems that we don’t plan for. We face challenges that we never even imagined, whether married or single problems and life issues come alike.

Some of the issues we face and will face in marriage and in life are hospital stays, aging( we will never be young forever) a spouse getting disabled due to sickness or accident, physical illness and mental illness among others.

In the journey of life and institutional of marriage we need someone who can make a promise to be by our side regardless of life circumstances that come our way. Someone who will be with us not only when our body is well and fully functional but when it fails as well and we can’t do things by ourselves like think, bath, eat and walk etc.

The promise “in sickness and in health” emphasizes that marriage is not only based on the good times but it’s a long life covenant to love someone, care, remain faithful and support them through every season of life.

The couple promises to love, support, and care for each other whether one is well or sick, the promise further stresses that the spouse will not abandon another because of illness.”

Personal testimony 👇
I have not only heard this vow I have seen it incarnate, personified with parents who have lived every word of this promise, loved, cared for each other in every season of life and that has impacted my life and many others. Bishop Morgan Mwanza and Mai Bishop get your flowers.

This reflects the biblical principle of steadfast love and mutual care, as expressed in verses such as Ephesians 5:25, where husbands are called to love their wives sacrificially, and Galatians 6:2, which encourages believers to “bear one another’s burdens.”

The vows are not just words to fulfill the ceremony they are real life promises ahead and must be made carefully and thoughtfully.

After saying all this remember “No condition is permanent.”

"For better for worse, for richer for poorer"

Many couples have said these vows and when reality dawns it's not easy to stand by these words.
I'm told recently couples have changed the vows to do away with the vows that talk about misfortunes such as worse and poorer, to replace with prosperity and something good.

During dating and courtships very few young people spend time to talk about these issues and expectations.
Here is the truth, during the wedding ceremony or the day we are getting married everything looks very nice and everyone is very happy that day and amazingly dressed. It's difficult to imagine hard days ahead at least for me it was.

Here is just a few of what we were agreeing to when we say for better for worse, we are or were agreeing to career change, unemployment, disappointments, intense loneliness, financial difficulties, misunderstandings, grief after loss of a beloved, stress from work, infertility, losing a job or failure in business, miscarriage emotional struggles and external pressure from our friends and families. The promise is vague but we promise even though we don't know and fully understand what will come that we will remain together when marriage is tested.

This calls husband and wife to respond to these challenges with patience, forgiveness and perseverance rather than giving up when problems come our way.

For better, for worse means I will remain with you during both joyful times and difficult times.
For richer, for poorer means I will love and support you whether we have financial abundance or face hardship.

With the strength from God we will stand strong we can and will survive the hardships of life. Whether you don't say the vows worse and poorer situations happen in life!

Before you say I do, make sure to fully understand and be ready to commit.

Next we talk about sickness and in health!

“ To Love and to hold from this day forward “
Do couples or people really mean the vows they make during the wedding ceremony? Another question is do people really understand what promises they are making as they are getting married? Do couples own the words and promises as their own and not just to fulfill the ceremony requirements.
I made these promises to my wife and I’m asking myself these questions 11 years later.
I have decided to break down and explain the marriage vows and break them down bit by bit, today I start with “ To love and hold from this day forward “

We live in the world of ever changing things, there are new trends everyday! We don’t hold the same things for a long time.

For example I needed an iPhone 11 Pro one time, when I discovered how iPhone 12 Pro is better, my mind shifted to wanting it and finally I decided to get iPhone 14 Pro the time I was about to buy it I saw iPhone 15 Pro and decided to get it, what actually stopped me from getting iPhone 17 is lack of money. I don’t want to hold on to iPhone 15 Pro for a long time, my heart wants the latest gadget on the market. I’m not even thinking of starting to fix it if it develops a problem, I just want to change it to a better one.

Back to the topic, when you make a promise or when you made the promise “to love and to hold” this is what you meant;
“To hold” means to cherish, protect, comfort, and remain devoted to your spouse. It signifies embracing one another emotionally, spiritually, and physically within the covenant of marriage. It also conveys the idea of standing by your spouse, offering security, affection, and companionship.
If you have issues you talk about and fix them, you hold on to your spouse and help to develop them, you don’t change marriage partner just because they is something you have discovered that you don’t like, you improve them and yourself together.

For me “to love and hold” means you don’t change your spouse to another “better version” you remain committed to that person in all circumstances of life.

Before you say I do, make sure you are with someone who is stable, has chosen you and will not move to another person just because of simple misunderstanding or their own lust.
Someone said if you leave someone just because they lack 20% of the qualities you need in a spouse, you will find that 20% in another if you cheat but lose the 80% you had in your marriage partner.

After pondering on these words they mean so much to me whether I understood them that day I made the promises or merely repeated them is the subject for another day, going forward I want to live these words more!
