Zambian Film “Night of the Gassed” Set to Shake Cinemas with a Powerful True-Inspired Story

Lusaka, Zambia — A gripping new Zambian feature film titled Night of the Gassed, written by Noah, is set to hit local cinemas, bringing to the big screen a bold and emotional story inspired by true events that once gripped the nation.

Set in Chingola, the film follows a chilling night when a mysterious chemical gas is released into residential areas, leaving families helpless and exposed to brutal attacks. At the center of the story is Noah, a young man who risks — and nearly loses — his life while saving his neighbors. His act of bravery turns him into an unexpected symbol of resistance in a country struggling with broken political promises and unanswered questions.

As the story unfolds, Night of the Gassed moves beyond the horror of the attacks to confront deeper national issues: political manipulation, unemployment, corruption, and the abandonment of ordinary citizens after elections. When those in power turn their backs on the people who suffered most, Noah rises again — not with weapons, but with truth.
Blending political drama, social realism, and emotional storytelling, the film delivers a strong message about justice, accountability, and the power of one voice in the face of oppression. It challenges audiences to reflect on leadership, governance, and the cost of silence.

Story Overview
Chingola is a land of wealth buried beneath suffering. Massive mining operations extract billions worth of minerals, but the local people remain poor, unemployed, and forgotten. Young men wander the streets without work or hope. Young women, pushed by desperation, fall into relationships with older men to survive—fueling the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
With no opportunities, groups of youths turn to illegal mining on dangerous dumping sites, risking their lives daily. Many are bitten by snakes, buried alive, or brutally killed by state security forces sent to protect corporate interests rather than human lives.
