Fellow Citizens,

Heavily armed plain clothes men claiming to be police officers earlier today broke into my Ibex Hill Twin Palm Road property where we had established the BM8/MZ media command centre looking for Parallel Voter Tabulation PVT equipments.

The goons who claim to be police officers fired live ammunition at defenseless members of our campaign team that were at the media centre the time the illegal raid was being conducted..

Fellow Zambians as you vote tomorrow ask yourselves, Is this the Zambia you want for yourselves. Is this the kind of country you want to live in for another five years…

This kind of thuggery should never be tolerated or even allowed to take root in our country..

Conducting PVT in any election is not illegal and so we wonder what exactly Mr Hakainde Hichilema wants to hide from the Zambian people with regards the results of tomorrow’s elections.

Stop the Brutality.

GOVERNMENT WARNS OF AI-GENERATED EDGAR LUNGU VIDEO

The Zambian government says it is aware of plans by some political actors to circulate an AI-generated video featuring late former President Edgar Lungu, in which he allegedly appears to tell people how and whom to vote for.

Speaking during a press briefing, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Media Thabo Kawana said the government was also aware of plans to circulate a video purportedly featuring Mr Lungu’s widow, Esther Lungu, allegedly urging voters to support a particular political party.

Mr Kawana further said the government was aware of plans for a staged attack targeting one of the opposition leaders.

IBA ISSUES FINAL WARNING TO BROADCASTERS AHEAD OF ELECTION DAY

The Independent Broadcasting Authority has reminded all TV, radio and online broadcasters of their obligations under the 2026 Election Coverage Guidelines ahead of Zambia's General Elections on 13th-August 2026.

Speaking on Tuesday, 11th August 2026, IBA Director General Mr. Webster Malido said broadcasters must ensure that their coverage is accurate, balanced, fair and responsible at all times.

The Authority has warned that on polling day, stations must not air campaign interviews featuring political parties or independent candidates. Broadcasters are also not allowed to make predictions of election outcomes or announce results that have not been officially released by the Electoral Commission of Zambia. Only ECZ is mandated to announce official results.

IBA further reminded Broadcasters that no new opinion polls results should be broadcast before are aired within the permitted period, stations must disclose full details including the source, sponsor, date, samples size and margin of error.

The Authority has also urged broadcasters to avoid hate speech, tribalism, violence and the spread of misinformation, especially from social media or unverified sources. All coverage must be fair and give all political parties and candidates a reasonable opportunity to communicate with the public.

IBA said it will continue monitoring all broadcasts throughout the electoral period and will take appropriate action against any station found in breach of the Guidelines. Members of the public with complaints have been advised to first report to the station concerned, and can escalate the matter to IBA if it is not resolved within two days.

The Authority has called on all media to play their role in promoting peace and a credible electoral process.
