AS Zambia commemorates the 10th anniversary of the declaration of October 18 as a National Day of Prayer, Fasting and Reconciliation, President Hakainde Hichilema has prayed that the peace of God should rest upon the country.

Below is his prayer posted early this morning on his page.
"Heavenly Father,
On this Sabbath and National Day of Prayer, we come before You with grateful hearts.
As we fast and pray, bring love to our nation, unity to our people, and wisdom to our leaders.
Guide us, protect us, lead us and let Your peace rest upon Zambia. In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
Happy Sabbath and National Day of Prayer!," Mr Hichilema, a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, wrote.
On October 18, 2015, which is exactly 10 years ago today, was declared October 18, as a Public Holiday in observance of the day of National Prayer, Fasting and Reconciliation.
The day of repentance, fasting and prayer which was attended by thousands of Lusaka residents who celebrated the event themed-'Laying the Foundation for Smart Zambia, Finding Forgiveness, Repentance, Compassion and Love in God”.
Ten years later, Zambians, this time led by President Hichilema, are expected to gather today at the same show grounds to celebrate the day id prayer under the theme: “Building Zambia for Greater Development through Prayer, Unity, and Hard Work.
