PSG, Bayern in last 16; CHELSEA THUMPED, ATLETICO TOIL

Layvin Kurzawa scored an unlikely hat-trick as Paris Saint-Germain powered into the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday with a 5-0 rout of Anderlecht, while Bayern Munich joined them in the knockout stage.
The French giants top their section with a maximum 12 points, with Bundesliga leaders Bayern progressing alongside them following a 2-1 victory away to Celtic.
Jose Mourinho's Manchester United were made to wait to seal their passage into the next round despite a 2-0 win over Benfica.
CSKA Moscow reignited their campaign with a 2-1 victory at Basle in the other Group B fixture. the Russians level on six points with their Swiss hosts.
Lionel Messi and Barcelona were frustrated in a goalless stalemate with Olympiakos in Greece, while Juventus salvaged a 1-1 draw at Sporting Lisbon after Gonzalo Higuain levelled late on following Bruno Cesar's opener.
Barcelona remain top of Group D with 10 points, three ahead of last year's runners-up Juve, with Sporting on four.
Chelsea squandered a chance to secure a berth in the knockout stages as Stephan El Shaaraway inspired Roma to a 3-0 success over the Premier League champions in Italy.
Roma are on eight points, one above Chelsea, but Atletico Madrid – finalists twice in the past four seasons – are heading for elimination following a 1-1 draw at home to Qarabag.

The opposition United party for National Development, upnd, in Luapula province has strongly condemned the alleged attack on its secretariat by the state police.
On Friday, heavily armed police officers raided the UPND secretariat in Lusaka and conducted search for concealed weapons and stolen goods , but found nothing after many hours of searching.
But UpND provincial information and publicity secretary Bwalya Chama popularly known as ‘ Shikulu’ says as the party in the province, they are deeply shocked by the raid.

And Mr. Chama has equally condemned the alleged harassment on former information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili on Saturday by some suspected p.f cadres during the memorial service of late president Michael Sata.

The Upnd provincial information and publicity secretary was speaking to K-fm news this morning.

About 285 casual workers who were contracted to plant and w**d at the rubber plantation in Nchelenge District are seeking payment of their monies owed to them by the District Forestry Office.
The irate workers who stormed the forestry office today to air their grievances appealed to government to help them secure their monies.
Floyd Mwila who spoke on behalf of the group says the department of forestry owes them money in arrears since January 2016.
He says the failure by the department of forestry to settle the accrued money has possed a big challenge in their lives as they are unable to take their children to school.
And when contacted for a comment District Forestry Officer Charles Chalwe disclosed that his office owes the workers about K170,700 for planting and w**ding at the rubber plantation since January 2016.
He however ,says he had been writing to the provincial forestry office for assistance and is still waiting for feedback.

His Royal Highness Chief Mibenge of the Ushi people in Mansa district has called on minister of agriculture Dora Siliya to ensure that farming inputs for this farming season are delivered on time.
Chief Mibenge says the experience farmers went through the last season cannot be encouraged.
The chief says late delivery of farming inputs puts a famer in pressure which even affects production.
And Chief Mibenge has commended government for the installation of solar hummer mills.
The chief believes that once hummer mills are operationalised, prices of mealie meal will be reduced and will create employment.

Mansa central Member of Parliament Chitalu Chilufya has urged China Civil to expedite works to construct township roads in Mansa.
Dr. Chilufya says the people of Mansa have waited for a long time to have roads worked on.
And Dr. Chilufya has assured the people of mansa of government’s commitment to construct township roads.
Dr. Chilufya said this when he toured the road construction site in Mansa.
Meanwhile, Allione consulting assistant resident engineer Gideon Sakala says China Civil is committed to construct the roads in Mansa.
Mr. Sakala says the company will increase the number of workers to speed up works before the onset of rains.

Three people of the same family have died on Lake Bangweulu barely less than a month after 17 people died on the same lake.
Chishi island councilor Justine Mukala says the family died at Mulala fishing camp between 15hrs and 17 hrs on Saturday near Kasekelo primary school in chief Mbulu’s chiefdom in Samfya district after a banana boat they were sailing in capsized..
Mr. Mukala named the deceased as Kalima Mwape, Bertha other names unknown and the other person whose names are unknown all of Shikamushile village in chief Mwewa’s area.
And Bangweulu Member of Parliament Antony Kasandwe has confirmed the accident to Kfm news.
Mr. Kasandwe says the family was travelling to Chilubi when they mate their fate.

Minister of housing and infrastructure Ronald Chitotela says there are plans construct a Airport in Kawambwa district.
This will be a second airport to be built in Luapula province with the province currently having one in Mansa district .
Mr. Chitotela disclosed this in Kawambwa when he toured Lumangwe falls.
He says the ministry will soon sign a memorandum of understanding with a company that will construct the airport.
Mr. Chitotela also called on investors to set up lodges and hotels to mitigate the accommodation challenges in district.
And the Minister has applauded China Habour Construction Company for the works done so far on the Kawambwa - Mporokoso road.
Republican President Edgar Lungu commissioned the construction of the 122km stretch Kawambwa-Mporokoso road in August this year whose works are expected to be completed in 24 months.
And Mr Chitotela says the road is beneficial to the people of Kawambwa and other areas as it will have an economic boost in the Tourism and Agriculture sectors among others.

President Edgar Lungu is tomorrow expected in Luapula Province to check on the situation concerning asylum seekers from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Nchelenge District.
This follows the Great Lakes Region summit that was recently held in Congo Brazzaville where President Lungu gave a key note speech on the situation of refuges in the region.
Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Buleti Nsemukela told journalist in Nchelenge that the Head of State is expected to visit Kenani Refugee camp which is currently housing over 5-thousand asylum seekers.
Dr Nsemukela adds that President Lungu’s visit is aimed at getting first-hand information on the situation.
And Commissioner of Refugees in the Ministry of Home Affairs Able Maware says government has identified land to relocate asylum seekers from the current temporary camp in Nchelenge District.
And UNHCR country representative Pierrine Alyara commended Zambia for opening its doors to asylum seekers.

Government commends private schools in Luapula Province for the efforts in contributing to its commitments of providing quality education in improving the education sector by the year 2020.

Speaking during the 2rd graduation ceremony of grade 9 and 12 of Pondina Pandeli Secondary School over the weekend in Mansa District, Lusaka provincial Principal Education Standards Officer (PESO) Grace Sikolongo says government policy stands at living no one behind without being Educated hence Private Schools commitments is contributing to its efforts.

Mrs. Sikolongo who is also Pondina Pandeli Secondary School Board Member says has much as government is fighting extra hard in improving the Education Sector, there is need for parents to be providing good morals in their children because they are key to national development.

Lusaka provincial Principal Education Standards Officer says her ministry is concern with the number of learners failing Examinations.

And Pondina Pandeli Secondary School Acting Principal Pastor Mwansa urged students at the institution and the province at large to do excellent work and focus in developing the region because they are essential workers that drive the wheel of development and human civilization through the skills, competencies, values and attitudes they inculcate in their respective communities.

And speaking on behalf of students who graduated Pervious Chileya thanked government and the school management for the efforts in place of living no one behind without being Educated adding that people in the province want to see learners excel in reading, writing, numeracy and information communication Technology.

Mansa central Member of Parliament Chitalu Chilufya says he is passionate about the education of children in his constituency
Dr. Chilufya who is also health minister says education is the pillar of any development as it unlocks potential in a child.
And Dr. Chilufya has called on teachers to have a positive attitude and be passionate about their work.
He says teachers are at the center of development in every child who adding that teachers are role models.
He was speaking this when he addressed teachers at Mutende day secondary school.
And Dr. Chilufya has donated 250 pockets of cement and K26, 000 towards the construction of a laboratory and grade twelve’s practical respectively at Mutende secondary school.
And receiving the donation, Mutende day secondary school manager Grace Muonga says her school is working hard to be the best school in Luapula.

Government says it is working hard in improving the education sector and resonating well with the 7th national development plan in enhancing access to quality, equitable and inclusive education.
Luapula province Minister Nickson Chilangwa says since the patriotic front government came into power in 2011, a number of pieces of legislation have been enacted and policies formulated to streamline and create a framework for the expansion and growth of the education sector.
Mr. Chilangwa says pieces of legislation and policies created have resulted in the expansion and accelerated growth in the education sector and has increased access to quality education.
The provincial minister said this in a speech read for him by provincial deputy permanent secretary Royd Mwape Chakaba during the 3rd graduation ceremony for Mars Hill institute of Business and education studies at Wetuna gardens this morning.
And Vice Chancellor of the Zambia Open University Professor Y. Yerokun urged graduates to to provide quality education to the learners wherever they will be posted.
And speaking on behalf of graduates Dona Mwale appealed to government through the provincial education office to ensure that a good number of students from Mars Hill are being considered for this year’s teacher recruitment exercise because the institution has proved to be valuable and original whenever graduates have been given chance to execute duties in both private and government institutions.

Health minister Chitalu Chilufya says there is need to heighten disease surveillance in Nchelenge district to prevent an outbreak of waterborne diseases.
Dr. Chilufya made the remarks when he visited the refugee camp in Nchelenge this morning.
Dr. Chilufya who was accompanied by the provincial health director Dr. Peter Bwalya says government will remain alert to the situation at the refugee camp to avoid disease outbreaks in the camp and to the surrounding areas.
He says his ministry has deployed more health workers to the camp to beef up support in the delivery of health care to the asylum seekers.
And Nchelenge District commissioner Derrick Mwelwa has expressed concerns about the sanitation condition at the camp.
Meanwhile, United Nations high commission for refugees UNHCR public information associate Kelvin Shimoh has appealed to the Zambian government to consider finding a better place for the refugees.
Mr. Shimoh says the place in Nchelenge which is a transit is congested which he says is difficult to provide better health and sanitary services.
About 4955 Congolese asylum seekers have entered Zambia through Chienge and Nchelenge districts and are being kept at Kenani transit center.
