Cyberbullying and defamation lawsuits in Zambia, particularly on social media, aren’t taking place enough. Don't be intimidated.
I recently saw a vicious attack on a Zambian CEO's character online, which must have been devastating for him, his family, and all those affected, including the organizations he represents. I am glad to see that the posts went down.
It's appalling that some bloggers recklessly and hastily spread harmful content without fact-checking, solely to engage and increase their following.
In contrast, genuine journalism requires diligence and responsibility, qualities often lacking in today's online landscape where anyone, even those with minimal education, can masquerade as a news conduit. I hope the CEO takes legal action and receives the compensation they deserve. In full.
